1.9 Beadlock conversion, so easy it's stupid

I posted this to help some people out, hopefully it's done so, but I'm not going to bother answering a question, when the answer is in the thread. Read the article, it's in there.

I do apologize for the blurry images. I'll try to take some more.

sorry, i didnt see the measurement specs in your info posted...

I told a friend about this conversion and he took some pics while building a set. he used 2" sch. 40 black ABS pipe. Cut between 18-20mm

Here's a link to his album if the pics I try to post won't work.
clickity clickity clickity click, it's real easy man.

how wide does it have to be?

alright, go to the first page and start from the first post, I'll wait .............................................................................
....................... 3/4 in wide
I bought schedule 40 pvc , Home Depot looks to be the same stuff

More info on the pvc pipe ... Plz ;-)

2" PVC, guys this really isn't that difficult. Buy the wheels and got to home depot with one.

What kind of material is that and how wide does it have to be?

Rockhugger you are far too kind. I doubt I'll be posting up anymore helpful articles if these morons don't learn how to read before asking questions.

I guess the short bus is for the smart kids these days.

do they hold well?

Just swapped my wheel cutoffs to the 2" sch. 80 ABS and it holds very well. You'll need to drill holes in the pipe for sure, they become air tight, even with holes in the rim. Be sure to de-burr the inside edges of the pipe so the plastic doesn't cut the tire. This also gives you a place to add sticky weights. I added 3 oz. to the fronts. Haven't built the rears yet.

do you think 2" white drain pipe will work and how wide should I make it????

  you can call these drifter beadlocks and make a bizzilion and 5 bucks on ebay..

What part is actually holding the tire bead? How does slipping something over the top of the wheel make the beadlock functional? Just trying to visualize and understand. Any more detail will be helpful. Thanks

Can the stock wheels that are glued be removed and put into regular beadlock wheels correctly/ do they have a bead on the tire or are the stock tires made differently for glueing?

Why the hell did Losi make faux beadlock wheels with beadrings that come off but are not functional ?? Did the government create this design?

keep postin helpful hints

hey there are a few of us who just read a lot and dont post (i use the search like crazy). keep posting these hints thats the whole reason this site exsists.
keep it real and keep it cheap.

thanks for the hint i am going to do this mod for sure, what else do you have? (i know search, search and then search)

I was wondering the exact same thing

as for the conversion
awesome idea guys thanks.
however I was curious if it is possible to use the regular tires that it comes with on this idea as they are not beadlocks (I will be cutting up some new tires but dont have them just yet)

All 3 parts are holding the bead. The pipe holds the bead in between the rim and the faux rings.

Have no clue, I bet the stock tires if removed carefully would work wit this mod.

Not sure why Losi did it but who cares, they did and it's the cheapest set of beadlocks you'll ever buy.

What guys are you talking about. It's me around here. The rest of your post doesn't make sense to me.

is this sketch going to help or hurt?

I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised..... they hold very well. just make sure you don't over tighten the screws, they will strip out.
