2.2 Comp Tire Reviews

Wondered if you had any contact with or what you thought about JConcepts Green compound and their crawler tire?
Does the compound compare to the Panther compound?

when you put the f400's in the comp claws you will love it! they work well on heavy rigs witch your bully is. Thanks for the awesome review, I have been thinking about trying some x-locks, this makes me want to even more!

These tires work you just have to tune them & it takes a bit to get the foam right. They have ribs that you can cut out to make the sidewall softer & a inside ring that you can tune also.

These tires are not a plug & play type, some work has to be put into them to perform the way you want them to.

The compound works they are just not as thin as the Panthers.

Are you affiliated with RC4WD in any way?

No secret at all and Yes I'm a Rc4wd Driver, but I'm also my own Driver. I'm in the pistion to sponser myself. That being said... I can get any tire I choose. I run what ever tire will give me the biggest advantage. Period.... If they SUCKED. I would say it. I've been running the X-Locks in the last 3-4 Comps with great results. Around here. If a Different tire comes out to be better during more testing. I'll switch in a heart beat. Then I will E-Mail Rc4wd and tell them. They need to raise the bar again. The X-Locks take a lot of Foam Tuning. Just because one or two guys say they suck. Doesn't mean anything. To many factors. Poor driving, Poor foam or rig set up, etc, etc.... As soon as the rain stops and I catch back up orders and new products. More testing will come.

I also have a set of x-locks. They are awesome on smooth rock. They have the traction of a panther and the height of a rover. I use pro-line 2 stage foams and cut the stock foams in half and stuff that in the outside of each tire. I have a set of chisels, HB rovers, losi comp claws, x-locks and panthers. I have done many of the same test for hours on end, and have come to the same conclusion that run2jeepn has. The tire I use the most for comps are the x-locks.

The only thing I don't like about the x-locks are the $30.00/PAIR price tag:shock:

Thank you for taking the time to do all this. It is incredibly helpful and informative for everyone else that cant afford to test all these. I appreciate this and look forward to more. Keep it up!

WOW great thread! helped me alot! Thanks for all this!

thanks and

I bought, used, and have just about used up a set of x-locks. They are a damn good tire. They seemed to hook up almost every where I have used them. I ran lines with them that my pathers and rovers would never go. They did seem to wear quicker then most tires I have uesed in the past, and if it wasn't for the price, I would buy them again. I think RC4WD nailed this one. I would not hesitate to recomend them to anyone.
Next up on my chopping block will be Panther Lepords.... I think.
