Hey Im just looking to see if anyone has had any experience putting a 2.2 tire on a 2.8 wheel without cutting the bead. I think I found some wheels for my hummer build but dont know if they will fit my rock crushers. I would be ok with making some small relief cuts in the bead but not removing it totally. Dont be afraid to put a pic up if you have one , it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Bob

2.6? is that a typo? It will be a glue on deal so no beadlocks to fanagle with, do you think that would make it easier? and did you mean 2.2 or 2.8

Check Scalelovers 1:6 Chevy build her did strech a 2.2 tire over a 2.8 rim

I tried searching for threads or posts by scalelover and nothing came up, not one post or thread. But then I searched the word scalelover and two feedbacks came up so that person must have had a sale thread. I must be missing something. edit: found the thread but those tires were cut and added to. I dont want to build another tire. Just wondering if they will stretch over a 2.8

went to the shed and grabbed a 3.2 maxx wheel and it slipped over it with some coaxing and no cutting so I guess I will be ok on a 2.8 as long as its not too wide.

I guess it depends on the 2.8 rim, too. The 2wd Traxxas rims have a sideways bead, I'm not sure if a standard bead type tire would fit into the 2wd Traxxas rim.

Also, Clodbusters use a 2.6 bead...

Learn something new every day 8) Just another reason I dont mind renewing my star .

I stretched a few different tires like that at one time or another some tires worked well some didn't. If I remember correctly the RC4wd tires needed more foam because they wanted to sinking in ton the tread

I just stretched a set of 2.2 rock lizards on to a set of Proline 2.8 torque wheels. Makes them look really low profile with bulging sidewalls. Good for wheel protection. For my purpose. A Traxxas Stampede 4x4 running 3S lipos, They balloon like mad.. haha..

I stretched a set of Masher's (not 2k's) onto a set of of TRX 2.8's and they worked great. They had a great look and didn't sink in the middle at all. Depending on the tire will dictate the results. Give it a shot, since its a glue on, no harm done if you don't glue it!
