2S 20C-30C Lipo question.

Okay so I was going to get some more NiMh batteries for xmas but decided to go ahead and get some lipos. I am looking online at hobbypartz.com and hobbyking.com at there lipos.

I am looking at getting 2S ones. Would gettting between 20C and say 30C a good idea?

If i got say a 2S 25C 1550mah Rhino lipo how long of run time would that get me on my MRC.

GET BLUE LIPOS!! seriously they are great, I run the 2s 4000mAh 30C and love it, I ran for 3.5 hours today and came home it was at 3.6V on both cells, for 20 bucks you cant go wrong tho thats a lil more mAh than your looking for lol. I say go blue, Iv heard the other cheapo brands are not that great but have never heard a bad thing about the blues.

1550 on a MRC would go for a long time...I run 1300 to 1800 mAh with a 45T tekin and get anywhere from 2 hours to 3 hours of trail time.

Gen Ace is pretty good, I run Sky and Krawler lipos, if you can swing it, higher the C rating the better. I have had 20 and puffed them, had 25 and puffed them..so far my 30's and 35's have no puffing action.

Depends on the rig, but an MRC has little room to work with. My comp packs are 325mah but 65C.

When the mah is small you really want a high "C", when the mah is larger you can get away with a smaller "C".

The "C" & mah combined determine the power the ESC has to use.

I don't know that I would want to put a 1300 in a MRC due to space.:shock::roll:

CheapBatteryPacks.com has some nice Elite LiPO packs, don't cost much and have a decent "C" rating.

Well it looks like I am going to be getting some Rhino lipos from hobbyking. Im gonna be getting some

2S 20C 1050mah 7.4v lipos. for $4.63 each
OR.
2s 30C 1050mah 7.4v lipos. for $6.63 each

So I figure ill probably get about 5 atleast so I can have alot of run time. Im going to be getting a few of the lipo charging/storage bags to be safe.

Then Im going to get the thunder AC6 charger form hobbypartz. I might pick up a few of there lipos as well. Well see what santa brings this year .

Let me know if all that sounds good so far.

At that price you really can't beat it.

I went with two Gens Ace 5000mAh 40C 2S lipos from HobbyPartz.com and the Thunder AC680 so we'll see how they do.

Another thing is, I am still running my stock elec stuff. I know i need a cut off for my ecs i do believe. Should i just upgrade my motor ecs and the other thing? If I do this will I need to get a new radio as well?

You can upgrade esc's but you dont really need to unless you want the extra settings. What I did for my MRC before I upgraded the esc is bought a cheap 2s lipo alarm...Basically when you get down to 3v per cell it beeps and blinks a light so you know you need to switch packs. They just plug into the balance tap so it reads each cell rather than total pack voltage.

If you upgrade your ESC you do not have to upgrade your radio unless you want to.

+1, I hear a lot of people use a "Blinky" LiPO checker if their ESC does not have a LVC. Won't cost much and helps prevent killing your packs. You only need one unit, you swap it between packs currently in use."thumbsup"

You can swap just about any electronics in your rig and really not worry about anything else electronic in the rig.

It's always good to ask, but none of the parts are brand specific.
EG: You can run a Futaba radio, Tekin ESC, HiTec servo, CC external BEC & Holmes Hobbies motors.

From the specs, this is for 2S ONLY which is OK for now. But not good later if you go 3S or higher.

Yea right now Im staying at ONLY 2S for now. This is my first time lipo and I was readying that with a 3S you can mess shit up real fast. So for under $10 I think its well worth it.

When I decide to step up to 3S or higher at a later time ill probably upgrade my ecs at that time as well.

For everything you are getting that sounds like an awesome deal! I paid $114 for my two batteries and the Thunder AC680 charger.

Sounds decent, except for the 360mah 20 C packs, they will likely seem weak. The smaller the mah, the higher in "C" you should go.
This does not mean blow a ton of cash on MaxAmps packs but upping the "C" on small packs is worth it.8)

If a battery is 1300Mah with a 20C rating, that means that it can provide a maximum current of 26 AMPS or 1300Mah X 20=26 AMPS The higher the C rating, the more current available to the ESC and motor. This also shows that a 350Mah 20 C battery will only supply 7 AMPS of current, but if it were a 65C battery, it could supply 24.5 AMPS.

These numbers are absolute and should NOT be exceeded, better to stay below the C rating to be safe.
