I have been trying to find ways to reuse my empty spools or give them away to people that have a use for them.I do hate throwing spools out

I've been trying to calibrate the extruder on my Power Spec Duplicator i3 Plus (Wanhao) using these directions https://mattshub.com/2017/04/19/extruder-calibration/
From the factory the extruder is set to 94 when I followed the above directions I had 36 cm left over. Setting the extruder to 111.9 I then retested, this time I over extruded my 15 cm so I reset it and retested this time I had 27 cm left, calibrate, retest, calibrate, retest..... each result coming out different. I'm doing this using Inland PETG which is very smooth and doesn't seem to be round. Could this be causing the issue or should I be looking at something else?
The diameter of the filament has to be consistent so the volume of plastic per 100mm of filament is the same. If the diameter is varying, then your extruder calibration results will be all over the place since the volume of plastic in that 100mm of filament keeps changing.
After I typed that I thought the filament diameter could be an issue. Tomorrow I will try it with some PLA that is more consistent and see what results I get. Thanks
It's a shame there are such extreme variations in filaments.
Just like bed level, it needs to be constantly checked between jobs.
I dunno, it's been months since I adjusted the bed on my Maker Select. Once I added the spring cups to it, it's been rock solid.

When bed leveling becomes a one-time job or when autoadjust beds always work like they should then I believe 3D printing will really take off.
for sure. The Z upgrade was a big improvement too, and the MOSFET upgrade at least gave me some peace of mind when printing overnight, but for sure the spring cups saved me the most frustration by a long shot.Single best upgrade, also the cheapest !

Which printer do you have auto level on?

I'm pretty sure he has an A8 like mine
