wanting to run 3S 2200 or 3S 1300.

most interested in BL sensored setups: motors, and esc. but also interested in brushed 3S setups.

please post what you got"thumbsup"

motor (kv or turns)
esc
pinion/spur (if you remember)

thanks!

tekin pro4 3300/mmp

3s 2200mah lipo

56/12 gearing on c3, 56/14 gearing on c2. i tweak the expo on the tx for a really gentle throttle curve, and for comps i'll even dial back the throttle epa quite a bit.

For the last several years all my stuff has run on 3S 2100mAh packs.

motor: Tekin Pro4 3300kv
esc: Mamba Max Pro
pinion/spur: 10/56 (32 pitch)
Unbelievable amounts of torque and speed. Good crawability but a bit jumpy even with the throttle curve tamed down below 1/2 throttle. It's fun but stay away unless you like breaking any moving parts. Chews up and spits out mud, truck pulls, and high speed stuff and dares you to bring more.

motor: Holmes Hobbies Torquemaster Pro 21T brushed
esc: BRXL and Sidewinder
pinion/spur: 16/84 (48 pitch)
Decent torque and great speed. Decent crawability but a bit jumpy. It makes a lightweight rig a blast to rock race with but make sure you like catching air and breaking plastic housings. Not enough torque for mud or TTC style events without a great risk of burning up, but a really fun G6 or rock racing motor.

motor: Holmes Hobbies Torquemaster Pro 35T brushed
esc: BRXL and Sidewinder
pinion/spur: 16/84 (48 pitch)
Great torque and decent speed. Good crawability with lots of punch to pop over obstacles. Makes for a very agile lightweight rig and works well with heavy rigs also. Not fast enough for G6 style or TTC style events in my opinion.

motor: Holmes Hobbies Trailmaster BL540 13.5T
esc: Mamba Max Pro
pinion/spur: 10/56 (32 pitch)
I have not run this in a rig yet but it's getting ready to go in. I feel that this will be a good alternative to the pinion busting power of the Pro4 with enough power to get the job done and be fun to drive. Based on the 2500kv rating I expect it will have more top end than the 35T brushed for G6 style events but have more torque and control than the 21T brushed for SORRCA style crawling courses. I hope it has enough torque for TTC events and since it is brushless I can waterproof it for better reliability than a brushed motor for extended mud and water use.

Tekin Redline 13.5 (3500kv)
MMP
3S 1300 40c (it's all I can fit in my buggy! blah)
14/56 (32 pitch) pinion/spur

If I am hammering fast, I get about 1/2 out of a battery, but if I take her easy, I have gotten an hour.
I have 3 batteries, and I usually get bored before all are drained.

God damn it, do I have to tell you to read the stickies too? :flipoff:

These are your best choices, in my prefered order:
  1. ROC412 3100KC & MMP
  2. Pro4 300 & MMP
  3. 13.5 & MMP

I ran all of those on 3s 2200 packs with great success.

i noticed everyone mentioning 32p. that hadnt even crossed my mind. good tip.

im not wanting to replace parts everytime i go out, but i want alot more power than what im used to.
BRXL, HH45T, and stockish gearing (maybe 16T or 18T pinion over stock 14T (all 48p)
i want about double the power/wheel speed i have now. for a fun basher, not comps. but i dont want to have to go home early every time because i snaped the axles and driveline in half.

it looks like most everyone is saying 3300 kv is overkill.

Guess it depends on your definition of overkill. I run the pro4 4000 on 3s and thinking about getting the pro4 HD 4300 to try.

I run a tekin RS with 13.5t redline. Has been great for everything I do with it. All metal drive train. I wouldn't mind goin bigger. As when I'm standing still it just isn't enough! Lol.. 56/11 32p gears/gearing

I run:
Motor - 3656sd 4 pole 3400kv sensored
Esc - hobbywing short course pro (I would recommend a mmp though, I got a smokin deal on my esc)
Battery - 2200mah 3s
Gearing - 11/60

If you aren't wanting to replace a majority of the drivetrain then you need to go with the Tekin 13.5 and MMP. The Pro4 and ROC motors will require a much larger amount of upgrades in comparison as the torque is much higher.

being used to the 45T and vehicle about the speed of a brisk walk. im wondering if simply going to a 27T would suffice? that would be pretty close to doubling the wheel speed right?

what about the 4 pole SCt motors? they require major upgrades too?

Anything with 4 poles will be a torque motor, that's what the PRO4 and ROC are. I feel the same as Harley, motors like that will need drivetrain upgrades so if you don't want to spend a bunch of money stick to a 2 pole like the Holmes BL540 13.5Tor the Tekin Redline 13.5T.

The 45T motor is listed at 1210 rpm/volt, the 27T is listed at 2100 rpm/volt, so yes you will be very close to doubling the speed. The Holmes 13.5T brushless will be around 2500 kv (rpm/volt) so that will actually double your speed. The Tekin 13.5T is 3500 kv so that will give you a lot more speed.

Would you go read the damn stickies already. This is literally all covered on the first page of each one. Damn noobies.

i havent tried the roc motors, but i really like the 3300 pro4. its not like its ALOT of overkill... its just a little overkill. "thumbsup"

if i was going to buy a brushless motor right freaking now, it would be the 3100 roc412.

Here's a budget combo for ya. I tested out my xl-5 and 12t titan on 3s in my ridgecrest today. It was a monster. I have no idea how long it would last though.

The 13.5 (3500kv) motor will be more then enough for what you are talking about. My setup goes faster then I can run, and has plenty of torque. My drivetrain has been beefed up just to be safe. Pretty solid and reliable setup.

Pro4 3300
MMP
I'll be the odd ball here....
RRP 80T spur
RRP 17T pinion
Needed to trim some off the stock gear box to get the pinion mesh good.
