I’ve had this thing for a couple months now, and just been slowly building it up. I’ve almost finished it so I figured it was time to make a build thread. I was really excited when they released these as I’ve always wanted a TF2, but could never afford one. So I’m glad to have a “poor man’s” version. I’ve decided to go the scale route with this one. Anyway here’s some build pics so far.

Hi Billy Bob! I like what you're doing - the rusty, unloved, yuk truck look! There's so many new weathering materials for modelling nowdays, even mud & spilt oil stains! I bought a liquid wash & pastel powder set specifically for rust effects. The extra bits in the back look great mate. How bout a spare old engine too? Can ya get them in 1/16th? I shall dump one in the back o mine if you can.

Yeah I fogot to mention. I actually drive a real Toyota Hilux ute every day. A 5 speed 2016 2.8 litre turbo diesel. I've just ticked up 100,000 in it & it still goes like a new one. Tows a 2 ton trailer regularly no problem. I haven't checked what year model the C24 is based on. Is it the same one the British blokes couldn't kill on the 'Top Gear' tv series on tv? Anyway mate, be good too see your Toyota when you've completed it.

The WPL C24 appears to be a ‘79 thru ‘81 Toyota Hilux, based on the round headlights and the number of openings in the grille.

The C14 is a late 3rd gen (C24 is early 3rd gen) Toyota pickup. The C14 represents about an ‘82-‘83 model. They key identifiers are rectangular headlamps and more openings (six) in the grille.

Couldn’t say about the Top Gear episode...
