ALRC Comp #3 Rock City August 9th 2008

I am sure if you want to free crawl Melanie will help do some judging.

Are we going to run 5min time limit courses like we are going to run a nats?
That is if we knew how to build a course that could be finished in 5min.

I doubt it. I would like to just to get some nats practice in  but we are going to have a bunch of new guys this weekend. I don't want to scare anyone away. Maybe a 5 minute finals course??????

Jerry will be there. Limited class would be nice but I understand if not.

"thumbsup" I will sign you up. Yeah, were not going to be able to do the limited class just yet. I did talk to RXCrawler just a few minutes ago on the phone and we are going to try to get a few guys comfortable with judging this weekend. "thumbsup"

Ok guys, I am going to post all of this in the first post too but I wanted to make sure everyone seen it here too. We will be providing the score sheets. So you guys don't have to worry about bringing any. As far as the finals go, it will be the top 10 drivers. We will take the scores from the first 3 courses and add them up to decide the "Final 10". The drivers that do not make the top 10 will get 50 points added to there scores. We are going to run the "accumulated scoring". We will be running the "Free Crawl". For the new guys, what this means is that we will set up 3 courses first thing in the morning. There will be a judge on every course. When you get ready to run, put your truck in line and run the course. This is a little more laid back but do not wait till the end of the day to run. I don't want to have to put a cut-off time for running.

........I think that's everything.
1. We are providing score sheets.
2. We will run the accumulative scoring.
3. Top 10 are going to the Finals course.

If anyone has any questions about rules or anything else, you can post up here, send me a PM or ask when we get there Saturday. I want all the new guys to feel comfortable out there. "thumbsup"

If you guys want to fil me in that morning I will be happy to help out scoring. Just need a crash course. :)

Please add me to the list.

I have this sinking feeling that I'm fixin' to get my tail whooped, but what the heck?

I'm green, so a limited class would be nice.

What I want to do is get a few guys that want to learn it. Then I will have a few guys including myself that already know how to score watch and make most of the calls. I just want you guys to get comfortable with the score sheets. Some of these guys like Gatekeeper can run through the course quickly. Its hard to keep up sometimes but them again, guys like him are not racking up a bunch of points.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks Sinastir

PS: Thanks Rockcrawler for letting me hijack your post to promote our comp...

"thumbsup"

I heard that this was an awesome place to run. If it was not for the fact that I have to work Sunday nights, I would definitely try to make it down. I need all the practice I can get.

I was just looking at the sign up list. With almost 30 peolpe signed up are we going to have time to run 3 courses and a final coarse? I think the last time we ran 2 coarses and a final coarse didnt we? Or am I just remembering that wrong? Wow, that could end up being one long hot day.

We played around a lot between courses. But we did 3 courses and a finals. And I believe that was the weekend of RXCrawlers 25 gate course.

Couple of questions. All times are central right?

I get the accumulative scoring, but what will the 50pts added to non top 10 finishers do? Does taht have something to do with this comp being part of a series? If so.. that makes sense.

I think FreeCrawl is a good idea. It worked at Carters Lake with almost as many people and didn't take all day.

I am amped about this comp.... should be a Blast. Thanks for making scoresheets and getting it all put together."thumbsup"

Yes, were on Central time. "thumbsup"

On the scoring, you have to add 50 to the guys that do not make it into the finals. The reason for this is that if you do not, the person that places 11th can actually end up with a better score than the guy that places 10th in the finals.

Lets say that you place 10th and I place 11th. My total score before the finals was started was 34. Your score was a 30. (lowest score wins) Ok, you go into the finals and have trouble with your rig. You end up with a 40 for DNF. Now, when the final score are posted, it looks like this.

Course 1 Course 2 Course 3 Finals Total
10th Place (Harvo) 10 10 10 40 70
11th place (Jeff) 14 10 10 0 34

Now, when we add the 50 for not making it into the finals

Course 1 Course 2 Course 3 Finals Total
10th Place (Harvo) 10 10 10 40 70
11th Place (Jeff) 14 10 10 50 84

This way, someone that does not make it to the finals can not finish higher than someone who did. Hope that helps. "thumbsup"

No problem with the score sheets. I think it is better this way because we would have to bring extras anyway for the people that forget them. (like me ) 8)

A 8 minute AL, TN, SERCRC course woudl probably equal out to a 5 minute course.

Got it... Thanks for the explanation. "thumbsup"

Especially with a 25 gate course!

That was a really fun comp though. We just did it because we had time to. It looked like Joey just threw the hole bag of tennis balls in the air and marked them where they landed.

hey Jeff add Bee-Bo please "thumbsup"

Done. "thumbsup"

Got it... Thanks for the explanation. "thumbsup"

Anytime Harvo. "thumbsup" I would rather everyone know how everything works now then have to explain in the middle of a comp. ;-)

I will not be making this event. For the record this is the third event in a row that I have had to withdraw from. Seems I just have bad luck.
Went to the fridge today to make a turkey sandwich, bent over to get a coke off the bottom shelf and that was it. My back went out, like to never got straitened back up. Made it to the recliner took two percocets, a 600 milogram ibuprophen and a nausea pill. Been sitting here, hating to have to make this post. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow at 1.20 pm. Don't really know why I'm going to the doctor though, I know there is nothing they can do but give me more meds. It's a big part of my being disabled.

I hope you guys have a great time, please take lots of pics and post them up. I love the site there at Cherokee rock village. I have my berg finally finished and was hoping to try it out. I will miss seeing and meeting everyone. Maybe another time. I will be waiting to see the pics and results. Hope you all have a great event and a good time."thumbsup"

Rockcrawler good luck buddy, sorry I can't make the trip. I was hoping to get to meet you also.

Sorry to hear about your back. I know a few people that have problems with theres and they say its no joke. :-( I am sure I will get to meet you before too long. "thumbsup" Are you going to try to make the Nats? If so, I will see you there. 8)

Not this year. I went last year and totally had a great time. It's a blast. I haven't competed much this year, I played in a pool league last fall and won two trips to Vegas. Was in Vegas from 5-06 to 5-17-08 and 6-06 to 6-14-08 playing in the national pool championships. Pretty much blew my extra cash there. Pool is my other hobbie.
