I really had no intentions of going this route, but the right deal became available just as I had a couple things sell, so I jumped on it.

It came with the following:

- Y-Town BeetleJuice V3 chassis
- V1 Berg axles w/ front clocked & 2G's/86 Jeep steering
- unknown brand, sloppy as hell rear lockouts that I'll have to shim
- Integy V11 35t motors
- JR 9100T servo
- Integy MSR11 98mm Crawler shocks
- T1e rear lower links
- JP Customs high clearance links on the front
- 120mm bent links front and rear w/ 3mm rod ends...all it'll take is breaking 1 rod end and they'll be replaced or drilled and tapped to 4mm or 8-32.

I have since added:
- VP wheels (1.3" DH's in the front and 1" SLW V4's in the rear)
- 6" Rovers w/ Crawler InNOVAtions 6" foams.
- (soon to have) Super 300 front shafts

I'm still trying to decide what route to go with electronincs. I'm undecided on the following:
- Either DX6i or DX3r
- Either Sidewinder or FXR w/ Pund Dig or dual FXR's
- Either Tekin 35t handwounds or Integy V11 35t's.
- If I decide to retire the Bully, I'll put my 7950 on this one.

Regardless to whatever else, it'll also get a Castle BEC.

I've also noticed that

I would like to be able to do a back to back comparison w/ my T1e Bully, but unfortunately, I don't have enough parts to have both running together at the same time.

I still have some work to do on it, but I hope to be able to run it on Sunday to see how I like it.

Since this is my first Juice build, any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey Carey, I see that the BeetleJuice is coming along nicely. ;-) Who did your 6" Rovers? C.I. ?

What other parts do you need to have both rigs r-t-r?

I built the tires myself. I've built a few sets now. Theyre time consuming but not overly difficult.

For the BJ, I mainly need another FXR and a BEC. I have a sidewinder I can use if I borrow a couple batteries. The 850mah packs don't care much for castle esc's.

Like like the small touches of Blue. Like the tires aswell. Been thinking of building a set myself.

I just said "hell with it" last night and tore apart the bully.

I set this one up with the following:

- Hitec 7950
- single Tekin FXR esc
- Punk RC Punk Dig
- SMC 3s 850mah 40+C Lipo

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the pinions off of the brand new Integy V11 35t motors that came on the truck, so I was unable to use my trusty Tekin 35t hand wounds. I didn't get to bed till nearly 4am, so I wasn't messing with 'em any more. Once I get a new set of pinions, I'll probably switch back to them.

I'll get some pics of it today on the rocks...maybe even some video.

By the way, what's the hot ticket for shocks? Springs and weight oil? All I had were the black springs that came on the MSR11's.

Thanks... thing is, the blue upper links are coming off. They were more to get it going, and I'm going to build some delrin uppers once I figure out the exact length I want. The blue shock caps will stay, and I may put blue beadlock rings on.

Definately build a set of the tires. I was surprised how little they affected the sidehilling on my bully, and for an area with large gaps and ledges, they work exceptionally well.

Did you use Rock Lizards for the side walls? I've got a bunch of those laying around...:)

Yep. That's the best use for a Rock Lizard. "thumbsup"

The combo is really easy to build because they're almost laid out exactly where to cut.

I cut the lizards just inside of the tread, leaving maybe 1/16" around the outer edge of the side bighters and I cut the Rovers just outside of the decorative ring they have on the tire. Put them together, and with the Nova's 6" foams, I was sitting just a hair under 6" with no weight on 'em.

I know some guys like to overlap the sidewalls, but I've had good luck just sticking them to each other.

Here's a couple pics with the temporary hood and roof panels. I cut up an unpainted Parma Crawler body last night just so I'd have some protection for todays test & tune. I was going to replace or paint them at a later time, but I'm kinda diggin' the clear panels.

Before running I put some 30wt oil and Losi gold springs on it. It did pretty well today, but could still use a little tuning.

I finished it tonight...at least for now.

I built 120mm 5/16" Delrin links for the uppers both front and rear. This put my wheelbase right at 12 1/2". My final weight (with battery & 3 slugs in each front wheel) is right at 6.2 lb. (I want to knock another 1/2lb or so off of it, but I'm happy for now. I'm taking it out for a practice run in the morning, and then our Season Finals Comp is Sunday.

Here's some pics:

This thing works great!!!

I put on a free comp today at 4 Wheel Drive Hardware in Columbiana, Ohio, and easily took 1st place with this rig. I had a 16 for 4 courses, with 2nd place scoring a 71!!! I've never been so comfortable with a crawler!

Congrats man! "thumbsup" So I take it your liking the Beetlejuice?

Oh yeah!!! It's a keeper.

I do see the advantages of the version 4 w/ the narrower front section...it would be nice to have the shocks mount a touch narrower at the chassis. I've thought about using a shorter piece of delrin rod for the front chassis brace and taper the chassis in a little at the front of the hood...instead of doing the bends like on the V4.

Yesterday, there was 1 climb in particular that need a significant amount of throttle, bounce the rear, let off, then back into the throttle. The Beetlejuice made easy work of it, staying controlled and predictable throughout.

I had switched from Losi gold springs on all 4 corners to grays in the front and golds in the rear, and found that it was more predictable for me, and seemed to not fall into gaps and holes as easily.

I'm going to keep tuning and running this. I think I have a winner here! "thumbsup"
