Another. Damn. Yeti.

Oh for sure.

Total POS out of the box.

There's no "think" about it, the above shows it is a completely faulty design in a lot of aspects , and completely not fit for purpose. It'll be interesting to see how the 480 Yeti goes.

Its really a shame, considering the cost of it.

I was expecting to just buy a Yeti to run on 3S that looked (and was talked about being) tough enough to handle some jumps and hard bashing, like all the vids BigSquid RC et al posted.

Im most disappointed in the media though. How could they not have any issues during review like most of us are? and then just label this an awesome car as it is?

the basics are there, but its far from able to handle itself straight out of the box.

Ah well. Learnt my lesson now!

Mr Carter managed to get together my list of parts I ordered, as well as tower sending the out of stock pinion and ring gear for the front and rear of the Yeti.

Time to start on the last few things required to make this rig solid.

Those trailing arms look beefy as hell. I've been in the fence between those and the UC Fab arms. Are they as heavy as they look?

Yes. Very.

It was the first thing i noticed.

For a bashing rig, im not so sure these will be much good? obviously the strength will be there as they certainly feel unbreakable, but theres soooooo much unsprung weight in the rear of this thing as it is that i may have to rethink the setup's weight to give the suspension a bit of a break...

Aye that's why I opted for the VP arms as they're much lighter. Still doing good for me too, so seems more than sturdy enough.

I am really impressed with the UC Fab trailing arms - not sure if they still have them on sale thru DLux. More similar weight wise to the VP. Impressive machining.

Yeah I'm thinking I'll go that route, with lighter wheels, regular sized tyres, and vp lower arms - if they ever become available somewhere!!

Yea Dlux has the UCFab arms, i just ordered a pair. Only hes on vacay till the 5th. :x Guess Ill have to wait.
As far as the unsprung weight, I use limiting straps to take some stress off the shocks.

Great thread I just found it . I bought the Kit version as my first ever car build (all been quadcopters) It's great to see some honesty there as i cant believe how some guys say they have no issues with the rtr!!!. Even the Kit I have found issues and no jumping for me yet either. I think I might shim the pinions as well While its apart now. What shims have you used? Other than that it seems like it should be a
beast once its all done . I got the HR steering rack but see an issue with the soft steering rod ends so will upgrade those to the traxxas ones and use the steel balls.

Thanks.

Are those wheels 1/8th? found your pic with black dish wheels with buggy tyres on a google search, which linked here
