Im building this TJ for the scale 4x4 jeep build off. I know i have no chance of winning this build off but since i love building jeeps, it gave me another excuse to build another jeep. Heres the 1:1 Build thread here http://www.flickr.com/photos/freakjeep/sets/72157626580866447/

NIce I can't wait to check it out. I dig the highline hood and fenders. You gonna use some of the new axial Walker Evans wheels? I'm waiting for them to become available.

Just traded for another set of VOIDS so i might spray those flat black an leave the rings polished. Either that or pick up a set of the new axials and SDI scale doctor tires. Yum! Well see though.

OK heres the breakdown of the parts list

NB Jeep body
SCX chassis (shortened)
Drivetrain : HPI GRU to Axial Tcase
80 or 90mm dual rates (havent decided)
RC4WD D35 axles or ol reliable TLT's
1.55 VOID wheels
1.55 Invader tires
All metal work done by ME

So here is where i started

After a couple days of work i came up with the front fenders. Highlines with a little flare to hide some of the width.

I hope they dont come out too wide. I tried to copy the 1:1 fenders the best i could. All thats left is filling in the fenders. If im not happy with these ill make a different design and these will be available to anyone who wants them. Onto the rear...

So this is where im at today...

Will start the fender filling and front bumper soon then move to the cage work. Any ideas on a cage design? Im undecided on a cage to build.

careful with those front hilines... i did that and took a hard fall and broke the whole front end off. but mine was mounted off the grill.

Hopefully a bad fall wont happen. Ive been using this same design since i built my first LJ and i took one nasty fall at Vasquez rocks and the front highlines stood up pretty well. I dont really abuse my rigs as ive put countless hours into them but i think they are pretty tough. This is how i mount them. I also secure them with screws to the two inner posts to keep them from moving.

This is the ride height im looking for. Maybe a mm or two lower but you get the idea. On second thought, these tires dont look that big since im going for that modded TJ look. Now if i were running stockish fenders then yes, i would run smaller tires. Whatcha think?
