Another Jeep build..this time a TJ

PLEASE continue this build thread. I just bought a nb TJ from Wal-Mart for @ $50 after searching for one forever (seems like they always have JKs and never TJs). Anyway, This will be my first scx10 kit build (always had rtr vehicles) so I am following your thread and a few others for insight on how to do metal fab etc. (yes, total build noob). Anyway, I really like tyour start here. What you have done with your fenders is EXACTLY what I had in mind. Please show us more detailed photos as you come along. I will literally be trying to mimick you! GREAT JOB.

Will do! Im working on the sliders right now after taking a little hiatus from the build. Ill be getting back to it full swing in no time. Thanks for the comps. Its always nice to get feedback. Its kinda like a jump start to get back to working again.

How do you mount the body on your builds? I was thinking of cheating and using the axial posts up front and making another body pin somewhere in the back or rear fender well.

I made custom body mounts that are attached to the chassis rails and mount to the under side of the body for the rear. For the front, i used a long flat bar that spans the original body posts and fabbed up a mount system that mounts to the chassis rails. Not as easy to mount but i eliminated the body holes and the body doesnt go anywhere. Ill try and snap some pics tonite.

Thanks if it's anything like your fender work I'm sure it'll be perfect. How's the progress coming?

gonna get back at it in no time. to be honest i got a little bored building jeeps and needed a break. But after staring at it yesterday and knowing that i just sold off my two favorite jeeps, this one needs to get completed. Will update soon. Sorry.

Absolutely no need to apologize! I just really enjoy your building style and can't wait to see what you do with this one.

Looks great! "thumbsup"

Would love to see some pics on how you mount the body. I'm looking for a way to mount an XJ body without body holes.

There's a huge difference between these hard bodies and lexan XJ body. This body has numerous posts hanging down to use for body mounting. There should be a thread in the paint & body forum about this exact topic. Good luck on your build.

SER3100, what's the story will this get sold as is or are you gonna finish it?

Well guys sorry about this but shes up for sale. Shes unfinished but almost done. All bodywork is 95% done. Just need to finish some little stuff but yes its for sale. Please see the for sale section for details. I will get back to this but right now my bike is taking up a great deal of my time.

Here are some recent pics of where it is at this point and time. I guess i could finish it up then sell it but if someone wants it before then well.....
