Another Jeep build..this time a TJ

hey salmon, this message is about the 44's... :flipoff:

(soon )

That will set your rig over the top."thumbsup":flipoff:

I'm excited for ya! It's gonna look fawkin good.

Heinie has got the fever as well and has an ser3100 armored LJ coming to join the ranks. Speaking of...

Hey E, when are you gonna build your self a nice fancy new bright TJ or LJ? With K44's

Haha soon! after i finish hienie's and alaskan crawlers TJ. You will have competition now!

That's quite alright with me"thumbsup". The more sexy jeeps the merrier.

That would make for two ser3100 jeeps in Georgia, two for Utah, one for Alaska, and one for Malaysia.

The real competition would be to get everyone together for a group shot.

2 in utah?

Yep, in fact you pointed that out well before I did.

Dirk379 lives in Utah. Exactly where I don't know. He has the Freak, you guys should at least get together at one point to wheel your jeeps for some pics.

You guys have the some of the nicest rocks out there. I wouldn't know what's its like to wheel my scalers or my 1:1 with out some mud or trees involved.

That's one of the reasons I never wanted to attend the Scale nationals in Montana. Why would I fly across this nation past the desert and land in Montana only to find more grass, trees and moist soil with outcroppings of rock. How about a large expanse of red/tan/brown non-muddy rocks and I'm happy.

Hold a scale nationals in or near the desert, and I'm fawkin going for sure.

Got any pics of how you mounted the electronics under the hood?

I'll snap a few pics as soon I can. I've been busy too much lately.

But if you can imagine with your brain a bit, I can attempt to describe in words.

On ser3100 jeep builds he uses a metal plate that Home Dept sells for joining wood together. Not sure of the exact name. Anyways he takes them and welds or brazes two of them tighter to form a firewall of sorts. This fire wall also is what the motor and GRU are connected to. Since the motor and servo take up all the room up to the back of the grill, that leaves space behind the fire wall and in between the jeep dash to mount an AE-2 and RX. I have three 850 2S batteries in there as well. One on top of the servo and two stacked up in side the jeeps dash and near the cowl.

Is anything attached to the back of the jeep dash? That's my problem. I have the esc and battery attached to the body but the rx and motor (obviously) attached to the chassis.. so if i hinge the body up I have to unplug everything

Man that sounds like you need to rearrage some stuff, would hate the unplugging everytime. I mean I have to unplug my Rigid led bar and my leds in the body and thats relatively easy compared to doing ESC/battery everytime. But then again its always different per rig and how much it bothers you.

Yup thats why i had to build that custom mount for the LJ's. or TJ's as well. There is NO space under the hood. Im pretty sure you can be creative but its hard when space is limited. You might have to bite the bullet and Dinky it. Then again i dont know if the dinky kit has the space to put an ecs and rx onto either.

I'm considering a mamba micro for my next two scalers. They will be 55T and 2S so that ESC may work well.

I'll get pics as soon as in can.

yeah i always ran the FXR's cause they were so small and paired with the spectrum micro RX's. Perfect size combo for those with real estate issues.

Just two lipos, everything else is on the metal firewall/GRU mount

Im building this TJ for the scale 4x4 jeep build off. I know i have no chance of winning this build off but since i love building jeeps, it gave me another excuse to build another jeep. Heres the 1:1 Build thread here Niblet Rising - a set on Flickr
