I'm thinking of doing a hardbody build of my K5 Ascender. Would be nice to see some builds for inspiration. To get a full interior i would also need to relocate the transfer case. What's the best motor forward kit?

GCM!
its the ONLY motor forward kit, that i know of. (the only "good" one?)

i might do a 3D printed body within the next year or less. does that count?

There is a kit from rccrawler.it as well. But both kit places the engine high, and raises the cog more than i like.

Agree with both you guys, quality kits, but motor way too high for me. "thumbsup"

Oh and hardbody someday for me, just going to be painful when it gets beat up on the rocks. :) :ror:

I started an Ascender chassis with the GCM front motor mount for a Land Cruiser body set from RC4WD. I'm finding that there are significant issues with getting it to fit with the interior intact. From the expected shock tower issues to the chassis rails being too narrow to fit the Landcruiser bumpers. I REALLY want to use the interior without hacking it up and not just the shell.

So, I stretched the WB on the chassis for my Power Wagon body instead. I did see a video on YouTube where a guy mounted the Land Cruiser body ( no interior) to his Ascender Chassis. It looked "ok"...... but not like it was meant to sit on that chassis.

pardonmyn00b has a wicked K10 made from an RC4WD Blazer body, I believe it is on an Ascender chassis with leaf springs and a GCM motor forward kit.

You could always make your own forward motor mount to put the motor where you like...

I had plans to do a hardbody Ascender and ended up going a different route. So this isnt exactly an Ascender but it uses the axle innards from an Ascender, its the GCM CMAX chassis. GCM definitely takes a lot of inspiration from the Ascender. Originally I had wanted to do a leaf spring conversion on an Ascender which is easy enough for the rear but I dont know how I'd do the front.

It leaves gobs of room for the cruiser interior, I did have to notch the interior a tiny bit up from for the frame rails though, but a tiny floor mat will cover it easily.
