Anyone know if it would be safe to run a 3S on Axial AE-2 ESC?

Have some 3S and 5S from airsoft days, and i want to use them.

My stock scx10 shut down after a few minutes with out a bec, after bec install I haven't had any problem... The bec is good cheap insurance for your esc!

i haven't done it myself, since axial says 2s.. but i've been pricing 3s batteries because i've been seeing a lot of guys in the wraith/scx10 forums running them with the factory ae-2 esc and i haven't heard anything but good news.

as for the bec.. whatever you do just get one because you should anyway. mine was a 1000% improvement over the entire rig without changing anything else but adding a bec. i spent $4 on mine. just make sure you buy one that is voltage stepping, not linear.

If you plug it in, and it detects 3s (3 beeps) you are golden. I run mine without a bec. but my servo is not a monster. I will put one in soon though, just so i can run my servo at a higher voltage for more power. I do get the occasional brown out/glitch that I am sure will be fixed by the BEC.

One of the guys I hang out with ran a 3s in his scx10 this past weekend for just a few minutes without a bec. The servo seemed to get hot pretty quick. I wouldn't try 3s without a bec.

I ran mine on 3s with a BEC and it smoked w/o any warning and it wasn't even being abused in the least. It's been replaced with a Castle Sidewinder and has run fine. I realize the two are very similar ESCs, if not identical, but that's my experience.

Experiences may vary but i have run AE-2 on 3s with and without BEC. It has run without issue.... Although when i was without BEC i was only running stock servo. AE-2 is a quality castle ESC and can be ran on 3s without issue. But that's not to say something couldn't happen. Good luck.

Does the LVC work with 3s? I dont ever run anything to LVC but its nice to have added protection.

Just plugged in a 3s from one of my planes. I got the 3 beeps and goosed the throttle. I like it, just have to hook up my CC BEC.

Yes as long as you are running LiPo mode with LVC. It will be fine I've run mine with 3s and a BEC with out issues. Good luck.

If you have castle software you'll find that the low voltage is adjustable or auto you have the choice on that one. I run mine on 3s exclusively with a cc bec it works great.

I run mine on 3s with a cc bec and have no issues at all ...would recommend a bec as well for added protection ..can program via castle link so lvc is not a problem ..

Thanks for the info guys. I do have the CC BEC and Castle Link. I'll dig into it today. "thumbsup"
