I have a traxxas rx any way I can mount the antenna with out using the straw? Thanks for any info by the way Im running a AX 10

you could mount the rx under the top plate on the ax10 and mount your tube & antenna wire, using velcro, to hold it to the top side of that plate like i did:

this way, you can run it the length of the top plate as needed and have the balance extend out the back under your body.

I just heated and bent the antenna tube so it is not sticking out of the body. I also used the stock antenna tube mount and bolted it to the side plate where the body post is. This way the antenna is very compact.

shortened the arms sonora? hows that work for you? i heard that cutting the traxxas wire will create issues with glitching etc.

Looks like he just shortened the tube and then wrapped the wire around it. You are right you sould never cut your wire it will mess it up.

I don't have any glitches once I did shorten it. due to the antenna at full length it was picking up interference from the motor and servo.

I first used a setup similar to abadk4920. You dont have to use lexan though you can use any piece of plastic. I actually used a piece of plastic from the package one of my kids toys came in. Now I have it just wrapped around my rear crossbar and ziptied down it works great and takes up no room at all.

It's kinda hard to see but I have it wrapped around the black platick mount that was meant for the top plate and zip tied so it won't come off. on its way over I put some sticky foem and zip tied it just in case it came in contact with gears but it has never even left a mark on that blue film. I have no problems but A crawler does not get as far away from me as a faster car or truck would.

PS. Don't kill me for the picture size. I can't figure out how to down size it. My better half normally does it for me and she's not hear.
