This is a post to let everyone know about a recent experience i had with a major rc model company, here in my backyard OC, Ca.

I recieved an XR-10 as a gift recently and built it with the Tekin FX-r, and the 55 Turn motor combo set-up. Worked well for a while (3-5 lipo's) then started to hear those notorious "click", "pop" from those hard to get out of areas!! haha.

Then with fresh lipo in rig, i set out on a crawl, only to "crush up" the final drive gear and it's pinion.

I called the Axial main office line and got a hold of the warranty dept., they were understanding and told me to bring in the gears along with the axle if i could. So i went down there and they explained to me the manufacture process and gave me a new gear set for both axles!

I am pleased overall with the quality of the model and the overall design, obviously it is the most popular kit for competitions.

So i hope this will help some people thinking of buying this model and wanted a first hand customer oriented evaluation of the companies customer support.

That is nice of them to do that, because they did the same for me, but they need to up the bearing size and gear quality because almost everyone has had problems with them.

Yeah, handing out replacement parts is nice.

But redesigning an obviously flawed bearing setup would be better IMO.

It's called designing to a price point. If they made a "perfect" rig (parts, operation, etc) it would be so expensive everyone would be complaining that they couldn't afford it.

In my work life, I've gone through the sales/engineering debate many times before.

Sales states what they want and at what price, engineering tells them what they can do for that price.

Occasionally there are bad parts, crap happens and a decent company will fix it (that is what a warranty is for).

There are people on this forum that are comping a fairly stock XR-10 with no issues.
