B-MOW's Garage...Misc. Projects and Random Rig Builds

Finally bought my first HPI Venture. Well, Venture 18 that is. I’ve seen many vids and reviews on these and all have been positive. The build quality and the looks of the licensed Toyota Hilux SR5 body sold me.

Picked up the red brushless at my local Hobbytown.

Jumped on Cults3D and printed out some inner fenders and interior. The tiny detail on the interior is superb!

Inner fenders mounted easily using the stock hardware.

I’m have the finished interior pics up next.

Shweet!

Yeah agreed, the Yota body alone is worth the price of admission

I have been micro wrenching here and there. I have gained great appreciation for the small scale stuff.

That is a really nice print 👌

The body is nice. Detailed well for its size.

Forgot to mention that it has a full set of lights. All switchable from the remote. Low and high beams, brake lights, turn signals (can be turned off) and hazards.

Also printed the tonneau cover that is on Cults3D. And accepts the stock roll bar. Mounts in using the rear body mounting system.

Got the interior painted and detailed. Hired a driver. Robert Muldoon from Jurassic Park accepted the invite to drive. He wasn’t thrilled about him losing his legs!🤣

Must have hit my pic limit! Here’s the rest.

The stock front turn signals and tail lights come in clear. I used a Sharpie to add the orange and red to them. Also yellow Sharpie’d the fog and roll bar lights.

Also switched out the taillights. They had the turn signal and brake lights in the wrong light bucket.

Been busy with outdoor chores and have had little tiny truck time lately.

I have had my 3D printer running nonstop for a few weeks. Purchased the LJ Jeep print files off of YouMagine back when it was first released. I’ve been seeing more and more of these builds pop up on the Socials. Really cool looking rendition of a Jeep Wrangler and so many cool looking builds.

Here’s what I have printed so far. I used a high impact gray PLA for the body. Used a carbon fiber PLA for the black items and all chassis pieces.

I plan on starting a build thread for this, so I’ll have more details to share later.

That body looks great.
I almost bought those files twice now. First time I had it in the cart and tried to use the sbg discount code. It wouldn't apply the code because the design was marked $1 off so I bailed.

Looked back a couple days later and he had it $11 off so no excuse.

Only reason I've talked myself out of it is I don't have a car to build it on. I've got my old Phoenix chassis, but not looking to increase my car count so I'd basically build a chassis with that body, then it would sit, or I'd sell it.

I really like the integrated body mounts.
It is a great design. I like that all pieces bolt right into the VS4-10 chassis rails.

I bought it when it had the 7 slot grille. The new updated print files now have a 5 slot grille and new name. I think the designer may have gotten in trouble.

I had a couple spare complete VS4-10 chassis’s and VFD trans laying around so I used one of them. I just need to figure out which axles to buy.
