These Dravtech shocks are basically turned down bodies of Traxxas Big Bores. These are 92mm eye to eye. Erik now has offset caps which shortens them , without touching travel.

Thanks, Mike. I am a big fan of the Traxxas GTS shocks from the TRX-4 and I have thought about trying Big Bores on one of my rigs, so it looks like it will be a shock I try in the future.
 
Clearance for what? I mean what did you think would interfere with the trans? I guess I'm missing something here.



Oh that's right, the Raw kit includes the Deadbolt axles which I never understood.



I think the negative about the XORs comes from the fact that they are extremely wide and don't look scale. They do work though.



Full interior Is my worry and leaving the rear of the cab uncut without a “turbine “ poking out is the bigger worry. Yeah they are wide, but I’m using a 8” wide cab and wanted the fat look. They are listed at 4.50 but are taller than my VXTs which are 4.65
They grip like crazy though.

If I remember correctly from building them the bladder and seals are the Traxxas ultra kit. I run the GTS on my Slash4x4 and love them, I have stock BB on the 2wd Slash , and a set of big Bores running Losi springs on my Bully. They are like the trx shock as they just don’t leak if tight.
Only tricky part is the small snap ring pliers needed.

Heres what parts are used and are supplied

That is good to know. I keep the GTS rebuild kits on hand. I'll have to get a pair of the tiny snap ring pliers.

I fell in love with the GTS shocks on my TRX-4. So I bought a set for each of my rigs. Currently run the GTS on my VS4-10 as well. Love them and they have never leaked. I probably try the Dravtech on my SCX10.2.

Is the Bowhouse tray/motor flip just to get more weight up front?

My take on this mount is that if you have the right sized battery you can lay the battery down instead of standing it up on its side, so lower CG if your battery cooperates. Its also got to be much stronger than the stock Axial servo mount, and its one piece instead of 3.

I'd be curious to know the width of this battery tray.
When you get a chance would you mind measuring the width @mikemcE?

I've always wondered how the Dravtec shocks are fine tuned without the pre load option?
I'm sure they work good as people never have bad things to say it just confuses me to not see a threaded body I guess.

How wide is the stock battery tray?

If I remember the width is 35mm, but has holes for the strap. I did lay the batt down.

Preload on Dravtech shocks is simply stacking o rings on the body or cup. Comes with a bunch.
Preload is really for adjusting body height

Can also use the tip of your wire cutters to pull em off and needle nose to put em back on. I actually find that easier and more efficient over the snap ring pliers, got those tools out anyways.

I am quite happy for OOB. Parts picked seem to work together in harmony. Bit more throttle curve tuning, swap out springs. Front mounts, steel sliders and body will be in this week so lots of additions to come.

Well about time! The ‘66 Effie showed up along with a set of Werty Made sliders, they fit perfect and hold the bottom edge of the body in place. The ProLine body is flawless and looks like crap due to the outer plastic getting rubbed during shipping. Since the sliders fit so well, 10 minutes later a trimmed body is here. Perfect fit, sliders and all, removed a bunch of kit bumper, not sure where the bumper is going yet.
While I was screwing sliders on, I swapped out the front shock hoops with a Xtra Speed set.

Weather is gonna get cold and damp here this weekend, so not sure if paint will get done this week, but I’m going to start the taping process after a good washing in dawn.

Getting there. As I live in sunny Florida and the temperature was a pleasant 70 degrees I finished taping and said, time for some color.
Started with PS5 black, laid down three sweet coats, pulled first paper and tape mask. Laid down 3coats of Duratrax Teal.
Went inside to blow dry the paint so I could back it, before the final color.
Well we’ve had almost an inch of rain in the last hour. Did do the backer coat, but will wait until it’s dry and sunny to finish up inside colors. Then do the outside.

Happy To !! I froze my ass off on the frozen tundra, I finally wised up!
Still more to come, I did get to peel some more tape and film......

It was a great morning, sunny and bright out, so I could see and stick a few things on . Paint was finished with some PS55 to dull the hood and roof reveals.......
