Hey guys. I have been reading about all of you doing Dig Setups. I was just wonder what the advantages where to a Dig set up vs. a normal 4wd setup. Is it to help with turning radius or something Im not thinking of?

THanks

DIG locks the rear axle and the truck then basically pivots on it's rear wheels. Great for tight courses and tight situations period. "thumbsup"

Everyone seems to think that Digs only help with turning. I use my dig more for steep climbs and drop offs. They both have they positive points. One isn't better then the other. For 2.2's dig is a must since 4WS isn't allowed. Now in the Super Class. it depends own your local comps with Dig is needed, but 4WS is a must for any Super. If you can have both on your Super I would. But don't under estimate the Dig..:)

Not to be argumentative, but how can you say for "2.2's dig is a must"?
I'm sure not saying it's a bad thing to have. But, if I remember correctly, I don't think Bender had dig in his Nationals winning 2.2
Like I said, it's sure not a bad thing, but I wouldn't say it's a "must have" to be competitive in 2.2 class. Personally I think dig or 4WS is more of a "must have" on the Supers because they're so big the turning radius is rather large.

on a clod if you use 2 different speed cotnrolers on different channels you can do a 0 degrees turn.but like they have said its mostly in tight spaces so you dont have to back up or stop which can get points tooken away

I guess I mentioned that becuase beside turning sharper in 2wd what is the point of not using 4wd at all times. Im just trying to figure out if I want my new R2 Tranny with the Dig Option or what. Anyway. Maybe Ill just order it anyway.

Thanks again guys.

The thing is, the R2 with dig option isn't available yet. The prototype is still being worked on.

It can mean the difference of making a climb and not making it. I have many ledges that can't be made without. If pull up to a tall ledge with just the front and get the tires to just crest the top. If you have the rear tires lock the front will suck the front end down and allow it to pull up. Once it starts to move up switch the power back to the rear and the truck drives up with ease. As long as you have the ground clearance under the belly.."thumbsup" ...But I guess it's not a must. Hell anything then isn't a must. I finf new ways to use the DUD set up everytime I take it out. Between the DUD and my 2.2 Jordans. Those are the two best things I have on my comp rig.

Thanks again guys. Can someone tell me if the R2 with Dig can be hooked up for Full Time 4wd if I choose not to use the Dig system right away. Im not going to compete at first until I get used to my truck a little, I think Im going to add 4ws so I can play with that too. I do plan on using a DX7 so I will have plenty of channels for everything.
