Best Lipo "C" rating/mAH for XR10

I've been looking at a few Lipo batteries lately for purchase soon. I really like the Hyperions so far overall. I think I would like an 1100mAH 3S Lipo (trying to put the most mAH/runtime I can in the small space of my XR10). I will be running dual FXR's, CC BEC, Hitec 7950TH servo, Futaba FASST reciever and a pair of Holmes Hanwound Crawlmaster Pro 16T motors. I'm trying to choose the best "C" rating. These Hyperions say they can be safely charged at 5C/6C rates for charge times around 10-12 minutes. This battery comes in three series. "CX" =25C; the "VX" =35C; and "EX" =45C. Any thoughts? I'd appreciate some good feedback; especially from other XR10 drivers with similar setups. Thanks guys!
 
The VX And EX packs are good. The higher mah rating the pack is the more amperage it will deliver at a specific C rating. 35-45c packs are pretty much a standard for crawlers anymore. Sure you can get away with less but less total amperage will be available. I'm running some 45c 800mah packs from Sky lipo right now and they have plenty of zip and good run time. I think I paid like 6 bucks a piece for them.

Better batteries will cost more and maxamps packs like Chicklet recommended will work good also! Its all in what you are willing to spend. Cheap packs may not have as long of a cycle life but they are cheap enough to replace if they lose some capacity or punch. Hyperion makes good batteries and if my pocketbook allowed, I'd buy a couple again. I've ran the VX batteries with great success.

I don't know my exact run times but I have a close setup...I can run two full courses and have around 3.6-3.7 voltage in each cell. Depending on how many times I need wide open throttle. That also depends on your motor.

MaxAmps and Hyperion are great. You can buy cheaper packs but...you get what you pay for.
 
I would highly recommend Turnigy Nano-Tech batteries from Hobbyking. Much better value than Maxamps. I have 45C-90C 850mah 3s that last a good hard 20 minutes. The best part is the max 10C charge rating. Very robust packs! A little over $10 a pack. I got 4.

Just make sure you go for the highest C rating you can find. Check the dimensions as they vary with may. The ones I have are abouts 50x30x20 and are mounted on a topless Rowdy Racing axle mount.
 
Hyperions and maxamps are great, I have a bunch of Hyperions. I just switched to the G-Force batterys that Value Hobby carrys and they seem to work just as good for half the price. I ran my 1100mah hyperions out on the front axle of my XR, and these batterys take a serious beating even in a case. I had a hard time smashing up a $35 dollar battery. Now I am running 800mah batterys that cost $8 dollars and I have three of them that I switch out...This gets me about an hour of run time. If im at home I can be running and always have one on the charger......never ending run time. :lmao:Till my radio goes dead :mrgreen:

Very true. MaxAmps , Thunderpower, Hyperion, ect all make very good packs and their cost is a good value for the quality you are getting. Cheaper packs may cost less, but you might have to replace them once or twice during the same life cycle of a high end pack.

Honestly, I've only ran these cheap packs for two comps now and a few practice sessions, time will only tell how long they last.

I had previously ran CBP batteries, TP and Hyperions. They TP's and Hyperions have lasted a LONG time and the CPB is a great value, but seemed to fade out a little quicker than the others. I have not tried the MaxAmps packs because of the cost. Most of them are pretty expensive, well.. At least they used to be. They seem a little more reasonable now.
 
i have always run cheep batts an have had good luck with them . the way i look at it is if i get 6 or 8 mounths out of them ill throw them away an get new ones for less than 10 bucks a lipo. on the other hand what made me do this is where i use to run my lipo it was very easy to beat it off the rocks an i didnt want to wast a good hi dollor pack so i tried the cheep lipos an now i will prob never get another good one . im very happy with the 30 c 500 to 800
 
Been running Zeus Power 850mah 3s packs:

They are relatively inexpensive and after meeting these guys at I hobby last year I found that their main warehouse is about 5 minutes from my office....so I can just run over and pick up/some packs. Definitely a good balance of price/power/and delivery time.

That being said, I just grabbed a bunch of the nano-tech 350mah 3s 65c-130c packs for comp use. Since I am putting these up on the front axle, and wanted to limit interference with the tires at full lock, these provide the required amperage, and about 8 minutes of comp style driving. I switch packs between courses so these provide plenty of time, and the punch is pretty impressive with the 454 16t Holmes Cobalt Pullers. For practice, I will keep running the Zeus packs.
 
Another vote for the Turnigy Nano-tech here.

Been using these cells in Heli's, planes and my RC cars since they were released over 1 year ago.
They are fantastic cells.

I would strongly advise to stay away from Maxamps.
I had read many many bad reports on them being over priced, but when a lightly used pack came up for sale from a trusted friend i thought i'd try them.

I tried them in one of my light weight off-road trucks to test them, as i have never had a problem with any packs in these trucks before even my 7 year old cells still are able to happily supply enough amps.
With the Maxamps they swelled the first use.

Over the years i have bought and used many many LiPo's.
You really do not get what you pay for.

My advice is buy the Turnigy Nano-Techs.
They're cheap, supply MORE than enough amps for any XR10 for a few years, reliable and under 1000mAh fit great in the stock XR10 chassis "thumbsup"

I have 4 Turnigy 850 3s 45c nano-tech's. Small punchy light and inexpensive. Definitely best bang for your buck"thumbsup""thumbsup"
 
I was using Hyperion (900 and 1100), great product for sure 8)
now I'm using Nano tech 850 cause they're smaller
 
i use the nanotech 370MaH, great pack, tiny and light, and enough run time for a run here... we only have -8 minute runs, the pack will last about 11 minutes beating on it.
 
Running these now, and I'm extremely happy with them. 430mah, and I'm getting 12 min. run time with with no mercy on my 6 pound XR10 with HH 40T TorqueMaster Pros.
