Best servo horn?

I have a 1" Hanger 9 and have been very happy with it. It's a very long horn and is the clamp style as well.

If your servo/radio allows for it, open up the EPA's and run a shorter horn. This provides the servo more mechanical leverage.

Short servo horn + long knuckle arm = most mechanical advantage for the servo.

But Robitronics double clamping HD horn is the best. Racer's Edge is good, but not a clamp style.

Yes, a shorter horn will make more steering force, problem with the XR's steering geometery (at least with VP knuckles, never bolted the stock ones on) is a short horn won't allow full throw. The radio/servo still has travel, but the linkage can only swing left (looking from front, right turn) so far before the horn and linkage go straight with each other, opposite direction and the ball end hits the horn. I spent an hour getting everything just right for full throw in both directions.

The Racers Edge is a double clamping style. Slightly less beefy than the Robo though. This is the first I've saw the Hanger 9, looks beefy also.

All valid points. The VP arm does look very long compared to the BWD arm I use. I guess it really boils down to each vehicle setup.

Just ordered one from Spotonrcrc.com. I am hoping for the best. At least it looks cool.

But the least throw, right?

Long horn + short knuckle arm = most throw. The ideal is probably somewhere between the two.

I tried a longer knuckle arm but lost too much throw so I went back to the shorter stock arm.
