best servo mounts??

I was wondering what everyone is using for servo mounts? I currently have my servos mounted to a aluminum plate ontop of the axle brace but they make the axle brace flex alot...to the point of not being able to turn my wheels...because the brace is flexing and not letting the servo turn my tires. Also the screws keep coming loose on the brace from all of the flexing...what do I do? HELP!!

I have seen some people mount there servos vertical...but of course now that I am looking for this I cannot find them, is this a better way to mount? If so where can I get those? or post a pic so I can figure out how to make one.

Is there something I can do to make the axle brace stronger? Aftermarket?

Please post pics how you mounted your servo, would really help me out!

I run RC4WD steering mounts. They both worked fine after I re-drilled them to the right specs. (they cam screwed up from RC4WD)

Only thing I don't like about that BTA setup, is you can't run the axle brace on the one side. I know most of the slow crawlers here don't worry about that as much. But I still have a little bashing and would probably break that side often. I'm running the CPE steering kits, and no problems yet. No flexing or anything, and they are easy to install. Just don't cheap out like I did, get servo savers. LOL.
 
I saw that BTA setup.. It looks good and I like it, but I'm not too crazy about having one side of the axle not braced... I've sheared a tube in half end to end WITH braces; I'd hate to see what I'd do without them...;)

I use the Integy braces/servo mounts myself... Some have issues with them rocking around, mine stay PUT... Used the stock hardware on the tranny case and the ones I use for my upper links on the C hub..

I haven't been using one and just killed a set of gears in my HS5645MG servo...it's ok though I have a Hitec HS-5995TG coming but I don't want to tear up that servo as well so I guess I will run a saver.
 
The axle brace is not for the c on the axle tube ,its for where the axle tube bolts on to the case. If you run a clod axle without a brace it will break at the case or break the case itself. When you run the axle brace and a plastic axle tube it will break next to the brace most of the time.

The HB servo mount bolts into the gear case up top braceing the axle tube where it bolts to the gear case makeing it strong as stock but also lets the axle tube flex a little removeing the stress from the axle C

I run plastic axle tubes on my clod just to prove a point, no servo side breakage yet

I read that and then took another look at the pics. I didn't notice it before, but you are right, it does use the case to axle tube bolts as a mounting point, so you are probably right about only breaking axle c's. Good call!

Servo savers are JUNK! If I mount a 403oz servo then I want to use as much of that 403oz as possible and servo savers just rob the power.
 
I'm using the Integy set ,there is a problem of the brace twisting quite a lot (about 10mm of movement forth and back) with servo movement!
I am not too sure weather this is OK or not also...
this is the one I'm talking about

can someone please tell me weather its OK to be getting this twist ?
any pictures of someone who has modified theirs to fix this prob?

Its normal but not ok in my book. Lots of builders make a brace to get rid of that movement since it will rob you of max steering throw and cause bolts to loosen.
 
Most of the ones i have seen look like the brace that came with the TCS stick kits. Basically the same idea, using a piece of aluminum angle mounted on the servo axle brace and a zip tied to the axle tube.

how did you get those photos to micro size LOL?
 
zip tied to the axle tube? thats custom...I'm looking for something a little more secure.

Custom? Not sure what you mean by that.

You won't get any more secure than that setup. The twisting of the axle brace is reduced to nothing.
 
I just used my rear lock out plate and drilled some holes through it and bolted my servo vertically to the lock out plate worked so good i made a front lockout plate and mounted the front the same way
