It's been a loooooong and slow process for me to get this build started. I have been collecting parts for the last 6 months in between countless hours of research and thread-browsing on RCC for idea's to borrow from other builds... 8)

... and of all the builds I browsed through, I was really attracted to the look's of the BGR Sports-Roof cage look, so that's the way I'm going with this one! Badger and NorCal 2500HD, thank you for the inspiration and influence... I will be forwarding my therapy bill once they let me out of this tiny padded cell :flipoff:

This rig will mainly be used rock crawling, but I am building it to be competitive in the occasional upcoming local G6 event's as well "thumbsup"

I will skip over the monotonous "kit build" and just highlight here and there on a few key parts of my build as I go.

Enough introduction bla-bla-blah, on with the specs!

The 60t spur gear will rub on the universal just a little bit. A 58 fits, but cover won't. The 56 is probably the one to go with. I run 56/12 in one truck and 58/12 in the other truck and am happy. I have the same cage and love it. Bill does some great work. "thumbsup"

This looks almost the same as my big build, I used STRC & Chaotic Crawlers in place of most of the VP stuff. Different electronics too.

Hate to say it, but it sounds like the only thing that you have in common is the kit.....

Well... the good news is I made a fair amount of progress with assembling my rig over the last 2 days

The bad news is my camera skills are not quite up to par when compared to some of the awesome photos I've seen posted around these threads :lmao:

Here are a few random pics to show my progress in case you may be interested ~

Axle's assembled using Axial HD beveled gears, Hot Racing lockers, Beef Tubes, VP Stage 1, VP VVD's, and VP steering linkage

Rear "dog-bones" need the inner flange shaved down a bit to fit through the Beef Tubes

I've seen people ask what a Beef Tube looks like once installed...

Making progress 8)

Had to go out just to buy some red threadlocking compound... 4 tubes of blue on hand but no red lol - figures :ror:

Robinson Racing tranny gears installed and lubed with GrimRacer Speed Grease

Mocked up the Holmes Hobbies 16T Crawlmaster Pro along with the 32p 56T Traxxas spur and the Robinson Racing 12T pinion

Still waiting on the BGR KOH Sport-Roof Cage to arrive, but in the meantime I threw the rest of the "cage" together for a test fit including the BGR F&R Shock Towers and the BGR Front Bumper... all of which fit like a glove and are a thing of beauty ;-)

Hi there!

Very nice build! Just a question, could u give me some dimensions of the beef tubes? And by smoothing down the flanges do you not get any issue with the shafts being kept in their own position? Normally in the rear they are needed to prevent the shafts to move along the axles direction....(hope u can understand my broken English ...)

Thanks a lot for your kind reply!

Slim

Hi Slim, thank you for the compliments! Your English is very good... much better than my Italian ;-)

Unfortunately I did not think to take measurements of the Beef Tubes before installing them so I can not help you with that. As far as removing the inner flange on the rear axle shaft's, it does not appear to have any negative effect. The shaft's are still held securely in their proper location by the outer flange where they contact the bearing's inside the rear lockouts "thumbsup"

Thanks for the reply, meanwhile I figured out the beef tubes are those made by a member of this forum, already PMed him to get some info!

About the flange I think the external one prevents the shaft from sliding towards the wheel side let's say.... but the inner one should be meant to prevent sliding towards the diff locker.... Though I am not 100%... However I will have a go, those beef tubes are one of the few left parts I am still missing to bulletproof my wraith ;)

Thanks a lot and wish to see more pics of your rig!

After a couple days of procrastinating I finally worked up the courage to run a drill bit through my pretty new aluminum wheels to vent them :)
Ran a single hole through the main wheel and dual opposing holes through the inner lock rings for good measure... also ended up adding 3oz of lead stick-on weights to each front wheel, and 2oz to each rear... not sure about the weight ratios, but it a good place to start I suppose and I can go from there "thumbsup"

I also got the steering servo mounted up to the axle, linkage adjusted, and installed a Crawler Innovations front plate as a base for battery relocation

I'm off to start trimming out the interior lexan... ;-)

The BGR KOH Cage arrived a few days ago "thumbsup"... finally found some free time to devote towards installation... got the plastic cage all trimmed to accept the new addition, and while I had the Dremmel out I trimmed and painted the interior & body panels too... decided to go with Gun Metal for my base color, need to apply a few various decals to REPRESENT and make it unique... still working on the hood so it's not in the pix (yet) ;-)

Signed, Coming Along Slowly :ror:

Sick dude. I have been trying to get prices for the bgr stuff. I can't seem to get a reply. It's going to b very nice. Keep posting pictures please.

Thanks for the positive comments!

Try RPP Hobby yet? They have several BGR items in stock and ready for purchase... many items are listed not in stock as well, but at least you can get an idea or three regarding cost and availability 8)
