Blackfoots CC01 Project with Some simple DIY Mods

I might put all 6 in front for strength (yes over the top but it should work).

good luck. i thought the same thing. not only is it nearly impossible to hold all the gears in the right spot while trying to insert them into the gear cup. once you manage to get them all lined up and ready to go in, (i cheated and usd a little shoe goo to hold them in place) you find out that there isn't enough room for all 6 gears inside the cup.

hope you read this before you spend the next half hour trying like i did

Phew glad Im at work otherwise I would be working on it. Thanks for the heads up. Im like a kid with a new toy and want to get it together. Tossing up between a nice cool looking pait job or go Police Rescue look. Im making bar lights for another car Im doing so might do for this as well.

Thanks for the compliment steben! You really dont need to add another gear, you could just do it with the 3 or even add a 4th from the rear, but even that is over kill. You will break other parts before you ever tear up the diff.

Hey its a pleasure, I havent played with rc cars since I was 16-17. Now Im 36 and its about time I had some cool cars. Got my pajero cheap for starters but am saving for an F350. The pajero will get as many mods as I can fit plus I like big wheels so I want big suckers under it.
Cheers

Blackfoot and everyone else thank you so much for showing these simple and effective and Cheap mods many of which I will be doing to my 1st CC-01.

Though after reading this thread and searching in others, could someone please tell/show how to do a suspension lift on these rigs?

Much appreciated.

cut out the green triangular area
after that back off the shock end a few turns or you'll need slightly longer shocks

it does provide more travel but the since the shocks are pretty short its limited to what they can do. as far as shock length goes. i think the stock shocks are 80mm. not positive. if you want to do it cheaply just back the end off a few turns or drill a new hole closer to the center for the shocks to mount to

Awesome! This thead gives me alot of ideas and helps with some questions I had. I am soo doing the locked front diff tomorrow along with cutting off the brickwall, and might even cut that block off so I can get a little more lift/travel.

I want to make a box like you did Blackfoot. How did you do that? pics of step by step maybe?

Also, can anyone post a pic of what the hinge setup looks like for the body? Or another way to attach a clear body with out holes and clips? If anyone knows something, please post some pics :)

-Tom

Aha, Radioshack (Didn't think looking there) oh well - at least I found another place with a simular thing :)

So velcro is the most common why with these Lexen bodys eh? Ok, I will check radioshack and see if they have any high strangth velcro.

-Tom

Glad you found it useful.

Thats a project box from Radio Shack. Less then $2

Try Velcro for mounting a body without using posts and holes. \

As for hinges, I used them on this build and on my other build called The MAN that is also in this section.

Hey, who's Ford Quadcab is that? I really like it and have seen it a few times on here and just be wondering. I would like to build one like that someday aswell.

Cool looking truck, kinda like a work truck "thumbsup"

I thought it might have been his, cause I remember seeing it in a thread about making BFG Mud-terrains which he wrote.

Thanks for the link, I soo want it! I would love to make a Crewcab work truck. I dunno where you can still fine original blackfoot bodys though?

I better just finish my FJ-40 first lol :)

If you cut out the triangular area then you are puting all the load that was on it onto the area right above the eyelet . So wont that eventully want to crack under lots of runs on bumpy terrain? Because it kind of seems like tamiya put that there to absorb the stress that is coming from the tire. Just wondering.

I did that mod and cut out even more from the lower arm and its still in one piece. "thumbsup"

I just picked up a cco1 from my brother today. Stumbled across this thread and read it through. The truck is still all in pieces in the box/bags. I'll definately build it up with these mods. Thanks for taking the time guys.
