Bomber Batteries

Excellent battery. I have a few of them and use them in all my stuff.

Cool. I ordered three of them for my Yeti and Bomber. They should be 4 oz lighter than my current Yeti batteries, and a couple oz lighter than the current Bomber battery.

Can someone confirm that lipo that tall fits?

For me, these are exact fit dimensions.
Dimensions: 138 x 42 x 33mm (5.4" x 1.7" x 1.3")

you don't want the height (42mm) to be any bigger, or will it will be hard to clamp the hood down.

How does axial say one size and everyone says that won't fit?

Look at the post above, just a couple mm smaller on each and the pack fits. The SMC pack is 47mm wide and fits as well.

I think the space is tight and so getting some of the larger packs to fit is relative to the persons opinion of too big or not. It's also about the battery leads and getting those to tuck in as well.

For the length, it definitely has a lot to do with the battery lead. My leads sit in the battery compartment, which takes up a fair amount of space. I can't get it to push down into the truck for some reason, so I leave it in there. makes the battery fit nice and snug. for the thickness, you could go slightly bigger than what I posted. Same with height, but like I said, you'll be forcing the hood to close.

I'm planning my Bomber build and thinking about using my old batteries. From what i've read in this thread it should fit but i'm not sure because of the battery leads. What do you think guys?

Also i want to use these batteries with Mamba X + 3800kv CC motor. Do you think that 20C discharge rate will be enough?

I have also a 2nd option - 3S battery and a slower motor - 2280kv. But in this case i will need to spend another 50-100€ on new batteries.

So what do you guys think? I read somewhere "Volt up, gear down" but right now that option is just more expensive for me and i would like to use my batteries if they fit of course.

According to the size specs in the link you provided above (135 x 45 x 22) it might be a tad too high, 3mm does not sound like much, but....
if you can get the hood and brace closed you'll have no problems with the wires exiting from the top edge.

I'd try it first, all manufactures sizes can differ from what is actually posted +/- a couple mm though ?

As for your question on the 20c rating.... crawling should be no problem but if you are going be bashing and running it balls out, I'd be looking at a minimum of a 45c.

If you are considering going 3s, check out the link I posted above.

I use the venom 3s 3300mah 35C hardcase. They fit perfectly on the tray.

There is also the SMC 4500mah that fits with more C and capacity.

Yeah it's 3mm higher but 7mm thinner too. Considering how the battery is placed into the tray (it's not 90 degrees) it might sit just right. But this is something i will need to try first before choosing the motor.

Now i'm worried about the 20C more. What happens when motor needs more juice than battery can handle? I think it should just slow the car down? Am i right?

When you pull more than the battery C rating, it heats up.

20C is okay for crawling

The thing is i want something faster than my RCMODELex Defender. Do you mean the battery heats up, or ESC and motor?
