BUILD: A Girl named Jenny Craig

Some thoughts on RC4WD's K-44

The K-44's resembles a Dana 44 with much narrow OD axle tubes compared to all of RC4WD's axles, with the XVD's. The cases were nicely machined, th XVD's and R&P, as well. The C's and knuckles are fastened in a non-traditional way, I may be wrong but it seems to have a slight negative camber. The XVD's and R&P are nicely machined and I am hoping from quality grade steel for durability. Well it is comforting to know that RC4WD always got your back for an quality or reliability issues.

I like a narrow track width as a good starting point for this build. It is always easier to widen than to narrow via spacers/wheel wideners. I'm glad that I went for RC4WD's mini wheel wideners as it turned-out to be just the right track width. Plus the barrel nut has a firm grip on the wheels, there is no wobbling of the hex, whatsoever.

Moreover, the optional 4-link mount and ARB cover adds functionality and beauty. The ever popular Traxxas' rod-ends installs without a bind for both upper and lower link mounts. I had to mount the lower shock mount on the outer side of the lower link mounts. At stock position the shocks just did not work nicely for this rig. I also mounted the upper link bar on the hole closest to the rear to have the mount further back of the pumpkin and gain a few mm clearance between my servo mount and the 4-link mount. Just wish there is an option for a lower the upper link mount.

Next time, let's talk performance, reliability, and ulitmate take on value for money. For now, given the scale realism, the superior quality of machining, and choice of internal components, Katan sure did Terrific. BRAVO!

Now just toying with some crazy ground lights for the Buggy.

LOL really?? You need to ask?? ARB all day long!!
Looking sexy!!

Umm hmmm i think that one.

ARB on the front, stock on the rear "thumbsup"

i would go stock all the way because the real thing ran stock

Thanks for your suggestions guys. The stock cover looks closer to the 1:1 and the ARB sure looks more tricked-out.

The buggy is in parts for the nth time. I cut a set of aluminum side panels and a thinner but longer delrin skidplate. Also shortened front lower links by 10mm and the rear 20mm. I wanted to further improve ride height clearance, and better geometry. Hopefully we get a cleaner look, much improved stance, and more performance.

Did consider going for the Traxxas shocks as the dampening action feels way much better. However, I will most likely stick to the set of RC4WD shocks and trade-of better performance for the scale look.

Ordered up some new parts. Getting some Aluminum tranny cases (tranny gears/outputs are HD), MIP spline bone for the Traxxas Summit (#09169) wanting a stronger drive shaft that extends to 155mm.

Since it ran fine with stock housing axial.
I would wait for the Generis scale axle cases. They should be done in about a month or two.

I like Nasty Girl's! oops i mean girl.

Same here!"thumbsup"

Did some more details to the interior and tuned th RC4WD shocks. Took out an o-ring then added #250 shock oil. The RC4WD dual spring scale shocks got no bind or leak. Got the 100mm up front and 110mm at the rear.

Managed to get 300 cvd's + VP knuckles for future performance upgrades. Perfect for the Generis Axles.

This machine is amazing! Are they producing those chassis designs? As in, is there a way i can acquire one? Or 3? lol

Seriously though, amazing work from the chassis builder and to you man for such attention to detail. I love the ARB diff covers, they would look crazy awesome on those Generis scale axles... I think we are ALL very jealous!

Chassis is a custom one-off by one of the Best -- Ecoli. k44-ARB axles by RC4WD. Generis scale axles will not be ARB's . Thanks for your interest and kind comment.

I seen that1.1 rig at the orv park in hot springs.. Its sick

It would be a great privilege to see 1:1, Thanks!

Towards the completion of the Project, wish to express my genuine gratitude to Team3Six. He sent scale seats and I am totally edified by the kindness and compassion. And to Ecoli, Katan, and Racer4Life, as well. THANKS!"thumbsup"

Just wanted to ask how the K44 axles are working for you. They obviously look great, but can they take a beating  ?

Thanks for your interest. Like the Black Widows, the K-44 should manage with XVD's as standard. The K-44 runs quiet and I added a shim to lessen slack and get better meshing.

YES, the k-44 should manage a dirt/trail run. But, I'd Go AX10 + 300s Metal Head for a TTC or FoFF Scale Rig.
