My Diesel fuel..

Thanks Lue! They're going to look right at home on the buggy and the tundra. Thanks for all your perfect work. As for the kids, 20 little angels left our world that day with only one destination.

When I get a build day and can't build, it's because of my kids. When I go out to "Build Trucks" and I end up spending the next two hours giving my little guy tires and tools and watch him hide my dremel bits all over the shop and don't get anything done, it's because of my kids. I've mentioned it before in many threads...there's no rush, there's no deadline. Two little crawlers come first...and the rest comes later. "thumbsup"

the build looks great, but i have to say with that paint job shouldn't this buggy be titled "moon rover" not screamin 2.

Amen bud. Mine is just 6months and she has taken over the household. :) buggy looks good cant wait to see it assembled.

Good Catch Warren! I only titled it this way, because the moonrover was rebuilt and is now screamin II. It's hard to find much info on the original moonrover, but plenty on screamin II. I figured if I put moonrover, people would think it was some sort of nasa rig."thumbsup"

yeah i have tried to find some better pics/video online of the moonrover chassis, because i want to build a scale of it too, but Tim Cameron just didn't own it long enough before it was changed to screamin 2. :lmao:

once again great looking build i will be watching this one to see how it turns out.

I did some work today and have some progress. More "building trucks" with my 3 yr. old tomorrow for Christmas. I'll try to post up some pics. "thumbsup"

Damn you Norm!

Update time. First of all, thanks Norm (Team3six) for putting crazy ideas in my head. Super scale details are great as long as you're watching someone else do them!!! In real life, they are a friggin PIA.

The amount of crap I'm trying to fit in this buggy is ridiculous. But, I'm committed now, so I have to make it work. On to the pics.

Back on the bench, in running condition. The tires are just for mockup and I'm keeping the fancy wheels for the studio shots.

Scale hydraulic ram. Still some little details to do on it, but it mounted up nicely.

Interior in and painted. Still need to paint the steering column.

This is where I have to fit my esc, bec, rx and a gaggle of wires. Next time, I'm going to build a jeep!

I love looking at these axles. Clay did a fantastic job with these.

Still need to add shifters.

Never throw anything away. I used an old aluminum three link mount from a set of axles I had. I did some cutting and grinding and bam, ram mount.

My driver doesn't normally wear pink, but he got his shirt from Justin Bieber and it was purple, so I bleached it and I'll dye it back gray. I had to chuckle when I was tearing the beebs' arms off!

That's it for now. I did a little shakedown run and took a video, but it's pretty sad looking. Wires taped and zip tied everywhere. I've got a few hiccups to deal with. One, my steering wheel servo is mounted under the dash and as my luck would have it, it's rotating in the wrong direction than my steering servo, so I have to get a servo reversing harness (I can't get at the micro servo). Just some more wires that I don't need! Then I've got to tune my driver. He's going to have a moving head, so of course, that's not easy. Thanks for looking. I'm getting close!

Awesome progress bulldog. Love the hydraulic ram up front. It really sets those axles off. Rigs gonna look killer with the moving steering wheel and driver
Feel for ya with the wiring. I'm still not even sure where I'm gonna be able to hide my 3s and BEC at yet.

The ram is merely an rc4wd scale shock that I painted. I also took the spring out so it floats freely and doesn't have any effect on the performance. "thumbsup"

Any info on narrowing the axle. I need to do it now myself.

Contact Clay Carter (Carterfab) who did the work. It's not something you can do on your own with hand tools. We narrowed the axles 9/16 either side and he made a custom panhard/three link mount, along with some other machine work. He did a fantastic job. You can find his axle thread in the vendor's section. The only thing I would say is talk to him about the timeline. I was very patient and made that clear. If you want something by the weekend, buy something off the shelf. I was willing to wait and work with him to get a killer result, and that's what I got. As for price, you'll have to discuss it with him.8)

Thanks! If I were you, I'd be thinking real hard about where your electronics are going to fit. I've got a little 3s in there and it's tight. It looks like you have a lot more room up front than I do, which will help, but plan it out. I think I saw a scale engine block on yours? At one point I almost said screw it....throw the electronics in a roof rack and call it done!:lmao:

I cant confirm or denie the scale engine at this point:lmao:as for the electronics ive deff started to give it a lot of thought. Thinking my 3S is gonna havta go in the same spot as yours, thinking of puttin the rx inside the scale fuel cell and the bec and esc under the seats... well thats the rough plan as of now, but u know how it gose....everything could change in 5 min time :ror:
