In all seriousness, it comes down to schools not wanting to finance Special Ed and dumb-ass parents not wanting their kids to be "stigmatized" by being labeled SPED kids. Sorry... If your kid has a 78 IQ, being in class with smarter children isn't going to rub off.




My wife did her Doctoral dissertation on how inclusion is detrimental to both the SPED student and the Reg. Ed student.



It didn't win her any friends at work.

So that is a long and funny story. Short version is the Superintendent of the District is a former student of her advisor. She was asked by the Superintendent to present her findings to the Special Ed Director, and advise the district on how to fix it.


She complied with the request, and was treated hostility by Special Ed Director from that point forward.


Come to find out the Special Ed Director was the champion of inclusion on our state, and the finding torpedoed their work.
