CBS/Kimbo Slice/A total mockary of MMA

What I mean is this, Fedor is great......in pride, this is the ufc, it is a step up in competition.

Lets see who holds the belts:
155: Penn = UFC
170: GSP = UFC
185: Silva = PRIDE
205: Rampage = PRIDE
Heavy Weight: Nogueira = PRIDE

Seems like the lower Pride guys have been able to hold their own against your "Ultimate" UFC guys 3 out of 5 classes.

Pride has also spawned Dan Henderson equally talented in 2 UFC classes.

Fedor has continued to surprise me ....I've seen him K.O and take some heavy punches and I mean HEAVY PUNCHES ....

Tha Cro-Cop fight had a close point to it going Mirko's way in the second last round as I remember and Fedor would have lost the belt if he wasn't saved by the bell .But in the last round Fedor was back so damn hard ...he is unbelievable I've never been so surprised by a fighter that much

When I saw this fight ; Jens Pulver vs Takanori Gomi I thought it will be Jens for sure , it was the first time I watched Gomi fight

Gomi looks like a dorky school boy but he became my favorite fighter
he usually wins by K.O ,stand up and very explosive!!!

Kamikaze, as much as I love UFC I have to say this is what happens to UFC classic fighters when they enter the Pride ring.

Jens Pulver vs Takanori Gomi watch Jens get Pulverized by a schoolboy in Price FC

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo2JhzHWecE

and show me some fights where UFC fighters beat Pride Fighters
I'm not saying there aren't any but every time I have seen some Pride fighters have dominated . Mark Coleman for example embarrassed himself in Pride over and over check his fight VS Cro-Cop
Cro-Cop has turned in to a major punching bag these days since he has the Croatian government position, he is still one of my favorites though.

Couture VS Fedor will be the match of the year , Fedor is too much for him though;-)

Funny people missed free EliteXC's televising of Kimbo (washed up and over-rated) to watch a Liddell special (washed up and over rated).

Kimbo will never be in the UFC, he proved that on the show. He was dead tired after the first round...maybe in the days of UFC's lame-heavyweights like Arlovsky and Sylvia he would have a chance, but not with a JuiJitsu guys like Couture or Nogueira.

That said EliteXC has always done what they are doing. Basically paying people to take a fall to make 1 still sub-par fighter look good. It's free so I don't care, but it won't help the MMA, only hurt it with such terrible fight card as was promoted. Even the female fighting was barely able to make it watchable.

My thoughts exactly. Those fights on his website are him fighting a bunch of scrubs! If he would get in the ring with Rampage Jackson he would tear his head off!

For sure he would, but imagine in a few years once kimbo works on his ground skills. He could be a pretty good fighter, I think he needs way more ground experience before he can be a good competitor though.

I just watched that event. I have to say, Kimbo really suprised me on how much he's worked on his ground game so far. Granted, he took some passes based on strength alone. If he can temper that with some actual juijitsu skill, he's going to be a hell of a heavyweight. I was pleasantly suprised by his performance. I expected nothing but standing there punching and he has come a LONG way in conditioning and actual MMA skill from his youtube/streetfights.

That being said, I was very disappointed with the stoppage of the match when and where it was. It really felt like a work. Sure, he was rocked. He had been over and over in the match, but he's got a pretty good chin. And yes, he busted open his ear, but I'm not sure I buy the equilibrium as an excuse. I've known guys with bad cauliflower ears that were busted open and that's not where the equilibrium is and they didn't lose balance that way.

I was pretty happy with Gina. She's managed some stardome and she didn't train as hard for that fight, but she did pretty well considering. She really has some skill. I can only hope my kicks look anywhere near as good as hers one day, too bad I started karate in my 30s. :D My wife is well on her way though. Dang women and their flexibility. (Wow, first and last time you'll hear me say that.)

i do agree that this EliteXC fight was a joke. i mean, it actually made the young guys they always have fighting on WEC wreckage look like seasoned vets....

speaking of which, do any of you guys watch WEC on VS.?

and as far as UFC legitimacy goes, i am getting worried after hearing that kurt angle is trying to make the transition from pro-wrestling to MMA... i don't really expect him yo be a top contender phyisically, but, he has a name they can sell, so that worries me about UFC fabricating a glassjawed champion for angle to sneeze on and win the title....

them guys in wwf are just a bunch of struting turkeys....sure they bleed every once in a while, most of the stuff they fall on takes the energy out of the fall....glorified stuntmen is all they are....any of them would have to train at least a year to be entry level competive, even the rookies of UFC would put a beating on any WWF dude "thumbsup" ..................bob

....

Brock Lesnar went over to the UFC and his 2nd professional fight was against a former champ (Frank Mir). They arent going to rig fights like EliteXC.

You do know he is truely a Gold Medal winning wrestling champion right. Wrestling is one of the many MMA recognized fighting styles and has produced many a good fighter and even a champion (Matt Hughes).

I agree, he is likely less able to learn the MMA arena than a Brock Lesnar, but I don't think passing judgement is a wise idea just yet.

What kind of crap are they selling??? I wonder how much CBS had to pay the ref not to stop that fight at 20 seconds left in the 2nd round. Kimbo Slice is a joke, they are feeding him wins.

Sounds like fawking WWF....what a joke. Who watches that chit anyways??? lol

yeah, i am well aware that he is a gold medal winning wrestler. i am also aware that he was an NCAA champ... (he wrestled for the college i went to....) ;-)

another issue i would worry about with angle is his age, and the fact he's had a lot of work done on his back and i beleive his knees. i would just like to see if his aging body can handle it...
