or sometimes this

1st is the xdm 3.8" version in 9mm, nothing like having 20 rounds handy. 2nd is a North American Arms Wasp in .22 magnum, 3rd is a Smith and Wesson SW99 in .40 caliber.

That 45LC / .410 revolver is a good car gun, with bird shot in the .410 shells you can shot a car jacker in the face and don't have to worry about hitting anyone else that is farther away like is the case with a slug.

Most times I carry a Ruger LCR .38. It's lightweight, has nice grip and fit's well in my front pocket. Hammerless, no saftey, just point and pull. I love this gun.

My second carry gun is a Phoenix .25. This thing is old, small, shinny, and loud. It's a cheap hand me down. My uncle and my father both carried it as bouncers. It's considered by most to be a "toss" or a "coke" gun. I like it for the nostalgia. First time I saw it was when I was little and my uncle had it to my dads head. Oh, family memories.

I've carried a few autos but with my body shape I'm not able to conceal them well. Most small 380's you can toss in your pocket but I don't like to shoot them due to a bad wrist. My dad carries a Taurus PT738 TCP .380 and loves it. My friend carries a Ruger LCP .380 and loves it. I like both of the guns but have a hard time gripping them with my wrist strength after the first shot.

I see a lot of different calibers here, but what about a .22? It's all I have at the moment and am considering getting a ccw.

Even a .22 is dangerous but you want stopping power. Not lengthy internal bleeding. You'll learn most situations your not going for head shots. Your going for center mass. .22 isn't going to knock everyone down like a .40 would.

Still better than nothing and just the sight of a gun is a big deterant in most cases IDE say.

A .22 kinda falls into the .25 category, they can kill someone, but they have been known to just piss someone off.
That recent story in Georgia where the mom shot the intruder 6 times, in the face , lung and chest with a .38 and he was still able to get in his car and drive off, crash the car and still be found by the police , taken to the hospital and survived.

When I was a city dweller I did not go anywhere without my trusty Makarov Hi cap (12+1) in .380ACP.

Me, I really like this for a carry gun
Here it is in a holster made by a guy in baytown (right outside of Houston)
..looks just like a wallet in your back pocket....excuse my double socked foot in the background :)

Kimber Pro Crimson Carry II .45ACP when I am out and about. Smooth action, dead accurate, laser and ramped and polished so it feeds the Horaday Self Defense rounds as well as it does Military ball.

Ruger SR22 .22LR when I am on the tractor mowing or bush hogging and when out on the 4 wheeler. Light, small, double action, 10rds. Plenty for coyotes, gators and the occasional coon. When the hogs come back or the bobcats, I will carry the Kimber again or/and the 12ga.

I have that same Ruger as my first gun. I really like it. Doesn't have much kick, so it was definitely nice for someone new to gun ownership. Really easy to take apart to clean too.
