Chevy Blazer 4X4 Xmod Proj-II ( 5/31/07)

Ok, I started my second project a couple days ago and I had 2 options for what to do with it but I finally decided to make it as an original trail rig - meaning it will have a 2 tone paint job like the original truck did when they first came out and I also added a few things to it such as a roof rack with spot lights (I will add lights later), side bars, and a functional side antenna ( all these are removable and will be glued back on after the body is painted).

Ok here's the pic of it at first *( NOT MOUNTED - JUST A MOCK-UP PIC)*:

Here's an idea of what the paint job should be like:

man no fulltops had sunroofs, ditch the whole top and wheel it nekid man. IIRC tower had a very limited quantity of those in stock a few months ago.

No doubt, go topless. Either full conv or the 76+(?) style half top. What is it with the 80's lifted truck mentality that everything has to have a sunroof in it? All the cool bodies need that filled in, like the clod body.

:) Thanks guys! I've finished up some alloy bumper guards and now i'll start on the paint job.
I wish it was the convertible type but I have a Bronco model that the top can come off so i'll be leaving this one as is and the bronco will be the open-top one.
The chasis i'm using at the moment is the Hummer chasis - the wheels fall alomost perfectly in the wells.
More update to come soon."thumbsup"

Small Updates ( 5/24/07)

Ok - not much updates so far - I have added a couple coats of a white base primer on the body ( which I left to dry out for a while) and I just finished up on some custom made accessories. Here's a pic of most of what's going on my Blazer:

The Jack, fire extinguisher, roof rack, side bars/steps, shovels, rolled up canvas, front and back bumper guards are all custom made using Putty, alloy & aluminum tubes/wires/sheet, and plastic/styrene sheet ( diamond studded one too). Everything is just about ready - just the interior parts need to be painted aswell as the body too, the windows are already tinted smoke black which is about 50% see-thru.
More updates to come soon - hopefully this project should be done by the end of this week."thumbsup"

updates 5-29-07

where did u get all the lil scale stuff
I made most of the accessories except for some that I had left over form other projects.

Thanks for the comments guys, I have painted the body already but I had to sand a section of it and repaint it over due to excessive paint runs on the bottom section of the body. I have also done some mods to the front and rear bumpers so that it's only the tube bumper on it more or less now.
I will show you guys the interior since that is all done already - here's the pics:

and here's how I have it set up to be clip to the chasis:

I'll post the Final pics as soon as the paint dries fully on the body and it's all ready to be set -up.

That's looking real good so far. I like the antenna mount. There are quite a few nice scale touches going on.

What wheels/tires are you running? Aoshima's?

If those wheels are other than Xmod stockers, what did you have to modify to mount them up?

@ Big Mike - The tires are Aoshima swampers but the rims are custom made - they're from my GMC kit - I just use my dremel to cut out the cnter part of the rims and then I glued in the center D-hud that i also cut out from an old set of xmod rims. You have to set it right in the middle otherwise you'll have some wacked offset rims.

As always, i'm thankfull for your comments, so here's a preview of the project so far - it's about 90% complete but i'll still show you guys so that you know it's almost done. I still have to make a custom slide plate, paint the chasis black, and wire the antenna, once all those little things are finished i'll good ahead and get some outside shots of the entire thing.
Here she is: *(NOTE: IT'S ONLY 90% Completed) :

Well, that's all for now but I do hope you guys like it!"thumbsup"

Thanks Xmod - that is looking good. I like the bike rack, nice touch.

The mailman brought me a box yesterday - Aoshima Super Swampers.

My attempt to modify the wheels they came with failed due to a spacing issue I could'nt overcome - the insides of the tires rubbed on the suspension.
I did'nt even think to try what you did, I may go that route since it's still an option - I modified the stock wheels instead:

Another 3/16" or so of body lift and it's rocking. It's amazing how much ability just a set of tires can provide, not to mention looking a lot more business-like:
