Ckrc scam? Or just horrible customer service?

Edit: I should add that for all I know the email could have came from a hacker or someone other than CKRC because it was on a zen cart header.

Anyways, they have "started to process my order" now so I guess I made a big enough stink to let them know I'm not a scammer.

Suffice it to say that making a customer feel like a criminal is not good business and I will not be shipping with them again. If anyone from CkRC reads this, in the future, if you ae going to inforce some hold policy you should state it BEFORE taking the customers money.

I am slightly confused, how do they have your cc# if you paid by paypal? And although I don't like their store personally I dont see any privacy invasion/ identity theft issue out of sending a copy of your license with information blacked out, it would just have the information paypal already provided them (Your name and address). Paypal is at the point now where the buyer is so protected any stop payment/dispute/ fraud the seller is screwed, I cant blame CKRC for trying to protect themselves.

If any one has any computer skill they could very easily remove the digital blackout and then then would have my DL and cc and identity theft would be very easy. I'm not saying that CKRC would do that, but who is to say that they have not been hacked? All I'm sayin is sending out your primary ID over the Internet is foolish.

The whole situation is dumb... Think about it. Who would hack a PayPal and order something to the persons house that they hacked? And on top of that what would having a picture ID do to stop someone from saying the goods never arrived and getting PayPal to refund the money?

It sucks that there are people that would be that crooked and CKRC has been burned and now I have to suffer for it, but all in all they handled the situation horribly and I won't shop with them again.

Im starting to think the cia tampered with the brain probe the aliens placed in your head. Maybe you should talk to elvis and 2-pac and see what their option is.

Jesus dude, you have blown this way outta the water. If I was ckrc I would of refunded you your money this morning and told you to kick rocks. This was a measure he took for his and your own safety. Your like that 40 year old woman at the register raising hell over the locks on the vodka bottles on the shelf. Get over yourself, sit down and wait.

Fat fingered from the phone- Corey

You had 3 options, send them some id, wait 7 days, or cancel the order. The fact that you didn't cancel the order gives you absolutely no right to come here bitching. I do agree that international customers should be made aware of that before they check out.

Use electrical/duct tape and cover what you don't want seen, take a picture with your phone, email it. No chance to un-black.
+1.

Yes, if you take a picture, THEN use a program to "black out" the info, it can usually be undone.
If you cover the important info, THEN take a picture, there is no "data" to be stripped to reveal the important info.;-)8)

Yes, it sucks that an online vendor has to do this, but I can also understand why they feel they need to do it.

I paid for express shipping which was $45, and then was told that the order would be held for a week, so you can understand why I'm frustrated.

If I was to cancel I would have to wait for my money to be refunded a processed, then make an order somewhere else and have to wait on that.

And while taping out the sensitive info on my ID would have worked, the fact that I have to do it in the first place, and that fact that I was told after the money exchanged hand is what pisses me off.

Maybe I over reacted, but when I pay a premium for 3-5 day delivery I want it in 3-5 days not 10-12. And when I tried to contact them to resolve it they never got back to me.

Don't mean to nit-pic but that's incorrect.

If you blur an image (poorly) then maybe (you would have to be really skilled and determined) - but most commonly used file formats are 'flat' like a jpg, gif, bmp. This means that what you see is the entirety of the image file with the exception of any meta data.

But if for some reason you sent them a layerd psd or tif file then sure - but I don't see many people doing that.

Anyway, I've had 1:1 vendors request confirmation like this. Apparently it's a thing now.

IF you want the best possible assurance that the vendor your dealing with isn't sketch, go with well respected RCC vendors like TCS, RPP ... ect. "thumbsup"

identity theft is the #1..i repeat #1 crime in america..sending a pic of my dl wouldnt happen..goes beyond my comfort level in an internet transaction..while i understand it i wouldnt do it..i would wait the 7 days or deal elswhere..and quit beatin up on the op..he had a right to be concerned..check the stats on id theft..this shit can ruin a persons life:roll:

How about if we declare identity theft a form of domestic terrorism, and when we find someone who is committing this crime we send in a S.E.A.L. team to steal his identity. To me, that would be tax dollars well spent.

As for CKRC, I found them very snobbish when I went to their store, but I have ordered several times from them and never had a problem.

Same here... I stopped in there one time on my way back home from California and got the cold shoulder from everybody in there. Had a nice, big list of stuff I needed for the Scale Nats. back in 2009... Waited till I got home and ordered from another shop. Up until that experience, I had mail ordered stuff from them quite a few times (with no problems), but after that in-store experience, never ordered from them again.

Re: **** scam? Or just horrible customer service?

I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering why you can't even type the name c k r c on here? I have always had great customer service, and I've ordered 5 times now. Maybe I'm lucky, but no problems here. I know we're supposed to support vendors and believe me, I do plenty. Bottom line is c k r c has some of the lowest prices on products there are. I'm not in this for charity. I like saving money, I can get more stuff that way.

Why is ck a dirty word?
