Are there any other people out there that enjoy older and classic video games? Don't get me wrong it's not like I don't appreciate modern technology, I have an xbox 360, wii, PSP, and nintendo DS (among many other consoles) but I tend to revert back to the classics. I guess my attention span doesn't allow me to get deep into many new games, I'd rather have a game that I can pick up for a few minutes and have fun rather than something that requires me to invest hours into. Oh are there any other MAME fans? I think the MAME arcade cabinet in my living room draws more attention than any of the latest games.

Now what do you mean by "older" video games? I have been playing video games for a LOOOOONG time. I actually had PONG when it first came out so that might give you and idea. I have a stand up Pacman, stand up Donkey Kong and a Stand up Punch-Out arcade game and my personal all time favorite is the OG Donkey Kong. Im like you though, I have an xbox 360 (two actually) and two standard xboxs,ps1, nintendo,colecovision,atari2600 etc, etc. Lately (past 8 or so years) I have been a Halo addict, starting from the original halo and playing every single version online up too halo reach still today. SO is that "OLDER" enough for you? :ror:

I follow the same definitions of older games as you. In addition to my MAME cabinet I have two stand up Hang-On games, stand up Contra, and a Stand up Mario Bros. (in a pacman cabinet). Basically I consider classic games to be anything pre SNES and Genesis.

I had "Bad Dudes" and "Double Dragon" in the stand up old arcade styles. I had to sell them though when I moved. I regret doing it, I let them go dirt cheap too. Every now and then I will bust out the Atari 2800 and play Pitfall, Stampede and M*A*S*H.

I love playing MAME games, I emu them on my pc, My girlfriends dad got me hooked when I was 10 or so lol. ive been planning on building me a small pc to install next to the TV so i can use my wireless controller and 50" tv.

i love my nes system play it more than my ps3. i just cant get enough contra, mario, excite bike, breakthrough, etc.

I love the classic NES games probably the most of any of my collection (pretty close to every console up to the current generation except for the wii and ps3, but a few of my close friends have those anyway)

I think the thing I love about classic 8-bit games was how punishing they were when you messed up. They pretty much forced you to fine-tune twitch reflexes and memorize levels and boss patterns. It made finally beating that final boss/level so much more rewarding IMO.

Who else here will never forget "up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start" ?

come on, sonic eats chilidogs:ror: thats like the coolest, what do they do? ya sure they got freez and scorpio, plus the dude with the pet dragon but come on, its sonic eating chilidogs :lmao: plus knuckles is bad ass

When I here classic video games, I think of just about any mainstream cabinet style video game from the 80s.

My favorite is DK Jr.

We have a Chuck E Cheese style restaurant here and almost all of their games are classics. They are starting to get some classic pinball machines also.

I've played every system from Atari to ps3 and my favorite game is still Contra!!

up up down down left right left right AB AB

got it to the point I could beat it start to finish in less then 25 mins without dying.

Contra and the gold case Zelda are the best games ever IMO.

Aint that the truth right there... I think that's etched in my brain. It's funny how many games that one code worked in.

I loved Spy Hunter and River Raid for Coleco Vision... wish I still had them but my parents gave them all away when Nintendo came out.

Although its not hooked up, i break out the snes and nes all the time...i haven't played a ps3 game since god of war 3 came out...i came near to beating it, and stopped playing

So i take 30-60 minutes to unpack the good ole nes and snes, give a couple good wolf puffs to get the dust off so the game will load, then play super mario bros (usually 3) on the nes and donkey kong country on the snes for quite awhile...my games or systems are jacked up so they usually won't save  so i never beat the games, lol.
