Codyboy's 46 Powerwagon Flatbed.

I just know you have a Vaterra cage laying around, my man... if you do, and have a spare moment.... couldja set it up against the back of the Power Wagon body?

Inquiring minds want to know!

(can't wait to see this completed...)

Looks awesome Ernie, I can't wait to retire!!! Looking forward to the reverse reduction transfer case in the future. "thumbsup"

Nice, how do you get the proper spacing amongst transfer gears to maintain proper quiet mesh? Formula, eyeball it, or? :)

I'm going with the "or?" option, ... I think he used kitty logic.

"thumbsup"

Got a little done today!

In order to build it up to get new ideas to fit, we have to break it down. Going to build a new winch bumper with real grill for the front. 8)

Going to pull this transfer case and build a reverse reduction with over under gears.

Started thinking about stance for the body. I think I need to remove the running boards on the body and build them into the sliders??? Any input??
I know I want to get the body down a little more.

Started on the new transfer case, "thumbsup"

All for today, back to orders tomorrow. Thanks for looking!!!
Ernie
My vote is to build them into the slider. I'll need to test that transfer case as well:)

Since math isn't a strong point for me, I think what I used is eyeball plus.

Sitting on a spare side plate, (when doing R&D I always make spare parts).

So I turned down a permanent marker to fit into the 5mm pinion holes and just barley comes out the other end.

And I have my shaft centers. "thumbsup"

I'm sure a engineer could come up with it way easier, but with my 68 year old brain it worked for me. :lmao: 8)

"Ask and ye shall receive!" Knowing I can't leave anything stock, why would you think I have K10 cage laying around?

I may just use this to build my flatbed, good call!!! ;-)

Kitty logic??
It is fun being able to do what I want instead of what the Government was telling me what I had to do!

I have a idea about making a motor forward plate and t case with over/under gears. My case for now is going to be a slight overdrive. "thumbsup"

Very nice Ernie! I think that's a great way to mark your gear spacing. Had a similar idea but hadn't thought of turning a sharpie! lol. You'll put anything in a lathe huh!? I'm going to be doing a similar idea with my next forward motor truck. Think I'll be making my own trans and transfer so save room and just because I can lol. Keep up he good work!

Exactly the rig I was thinking of. What do you think for a wheelbase for this as it sits?

Thanks Ben, I think neither of us can leave much we have in a stock condition!!! ;-)
I wouldn't say anything.:lmao::lmao:
It will be fun to see what you come up with. "thumbsup"

Wheel base will be at about 12.3. "thumbsup"

Coming back from my R/C vacation and find this! Ernie, those portals are amazing "thumbsup" Of course I wouldn't expect anything less from you, and it looks like I better start checking in regularly so I don't fall any further behind. I got a bit of a chuckle looking at the overhead view of your chassis. One of us must be spying on the other :ror: Something about that forwward motor and green skid look familar?

Thanks for the kind words Jon, I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with this one. "thumbsup"

Time for another little update.

I wanted to build another winch bumper and put it together as close to stock looking for the 46 Power Wagon as I can.

I want to keep it higher than stock for a better approach.

I found a reference pic with a Google search.

A couple different angles.

I think I want to try something other than a 4.75 tire, so going to go with some Braven Ironside. Not sure if they are going to look scale or not.

I put the cage on just to see how the tires will look with a flatbed. ;-)

And a shot of the running board sliders I put together. SS, and I think I going leave the polished look.

Need to start a couple orders this week so all for now. Thanks for looking! "thumbsup"

Took a little time to work on the bumper this weekend.

Working on a mounting bracket.

Bottom side.

Now I will start designing the grill/headlight guard around the winch.

I kicked back the headlight guards just a little. The bumper is a little more design over function. Trying to make it look like something you would see on a 1:1 Power Wagon. "thumbsup"

Very nice Ernie. I think I'm gonna give brazing a try this summer. I'm guessing a green theme on this one?

Looking good Ernie, I think the braven Ironsides look pretty good on this build. Keep up the awesome work! "thumbsup"

Gear Generator

You put your tooth and gear pitch in and it gives you the pitch diameter of that gear. You can find your center to center for perfect mesh every time.

Great info, thanks!

Dangit Ernie, looking very scale again, you've got a Kaiser, now a Dodge....what military old truck you building next? Braven Ironsides look great and nice size on there too! "thumbsup"

Ernie, you are a true master builder."thumbsup"
I think you accomplished your goal with bumper, and grill.

Looking good, Some MAD fab skills at work.

Thank you sir! 8)

You will do fine with it Ryan! If I can do it, anyone can.
Maybe green, But I really like the Candy Rootbeer with black!

That bumper is super cool! Can't wait to see this rig done!

Thank you Mr Jon! Busy with a lot of orders so going slower than I'd like. ;-)

Thanks Dean, I really love to fabricate. My thoughts on the Ironsides are I'm getting with the portals clearance so I can go with a smaller tire for more of the scale look.

Your going to love that winch. It's bada$$. Your truck is looking good.

Yes, more than enough power to lift this heavy beast! "thumbsup"

Great info, thanks!

Thank you my friend I guess I'm a sucker for the old cab look!
