Got a little done today!

In order to build it up to get new ideas to fit, we have to break it down. Going to build a new winch bumper with real grill for the front. 8)



Going to pull this transfer case and build a reverse reduction with over under gears.



Started thinking about stance for the body. I think I need to remove the running boards on the body and build them into the sliders??? Any input??
I know I want to get the body down a little more. :mrgreen:

Since math isn't a strong point for me, I think what I used is eyeball plus.

Sitting on a spare side plate, (when doing R&D I always make spare parts).



So I turned down a permanent marker to fit into the 5mm pinion holes and just barley comes out the other end.






And I have my shaft centers. "thumbsup"



I'm sure a engineer could come up with it way easier, but with my 68 year old brain it worked for me. :lmao: 8)

It is fun being able to do what I want instead of what the Government was telling me what I had to do!

I have a idea about making a motor forward plate and t case with over/under gears. My case for now is going to be a slight overdrive. "thumbsup"

Very nice Ernie! I think that's a great way to mark your gear spacing. Had a similar idea but hadn't thought of turning a sharpie! lol. You'll put anything in a lathe huh!? I'm going to be doing a similar idea with my next forward motor truck. Think I'll be making my own trans and transfer so save room and just because I can lol. Keep up he good work!

Coming back from my R/C vacation and find this! I got a bit of a chuckle looking at the overhead view of your chassis. One of us must be spying on the other :ror: Something about that forwward motor and green skid look familar?

Time for another little update.

I wanted to build another winch bumper and put it together as close to stock looking for the 46 Power Wagon as I can.



I want to keep it higher than stock for a better approach.



I found a reference pic with a Google search.





A couple different angles.



I think I want to try something other than a 4.75 tire, so going to go with some Braven Ironside. Not sure if they are going to look scale or not.



I put the cage on just to see how the tires will look with a flatbed. ;-)



And a shot of the running board sliders I put together. SS, and I think I going leave the polished look.



Need to start a couple orders this week so all for now. Thanks for looking! "thumbsup"

You put your tooth and gear pitch in and it gives you the pitch diameter of that gear. You can find your center to center for perfect mesh every time. :mrgreen:

Took a little time to work on the bumper this weekend.

Working on a mounting bracket.



Bottom side.



Now I will start designing the grill/headlight guard around the winch.







I kicked back the headlight guards just a little. The bumper is a little more design over function. Trying to make it look like something you would see on a 1:1 Power Wagon. "thumbsup"

Thanks Dean, I really love to fabricate. My thoughts on the Ironsides are I'm getting with the portals clearance so I can go with a smaller tire for more of the scale look.
