Time to start the wheels a turning on the new Class 3 build.

I have been planning this build since last May, right after the 2010 MSD nationals ended. Thanks to a great new freind I met at the event this build has become a reality.I will let you guys guess who did the tube work...it shouldnt be hard to figure out8) A great big thank you to him, the time and patience this took is far beyond my level of comittment.

SO THANK YOU, Mr Ec0leye:mrgreen:

Here is the rig I will be emulating. It is the Coleworx moonrover as some have dubbed it.Of coarse there will be some changes to fit into the R/C relm and a few tweaks for my own personal tastes, along with a few more to fit the C3 rules"thumbsup"

I am building 3 new trucks right now so the time crunch has already hit. Most likey the updates will be slow in the begining as I have to send this thing to a few different shops for heat treating/powdercoat, etc...And I am awaiting on a few more goodies for it also.It sits as a roller right now,all of the running gear is being used from ANAWRECKSYA but nothing worth posting pics of.

Parts list to include:

Holmes Hobbies ESC
Holmes Hobbies torque master handwounds
MSD Winch
Team3six seats and scale goodness
Vanquish products SSX wheels
Proline TSL's
SDS Customs Super 300's front and rear
RPM gears in the tranny
Castle Creations BEC
Axial axials (unless the GCM units are ready and available)
Axial tranny
Hi-tech servo's x2
MIP drivelines

and a bunch of other little things to make it a WINNER

Thanks guy's, I am very happy with the tube work also, but credit for the tubing goes to somebody else.Nobody wants to guess ??? I am sure he will chime in soon enough"thumbsup"

Is that all brass tubing? (or does it just look that way because of light) Looks very good."thumbsup"
yes, thin wall brass tubing, and it wieghs next to nothing:shock:

Cant wait to see this completed.
Cant wait myself, I so want to get it out on the trails and shake it down proper

graybush, yer insane! I love it "thumbsup"
fixed it for you:lmao:and yes I am.Have I ever built a "normal rig ?

I know huh, the fume huffer that I convinced to take this on has skills8)

It's about time:roll::mrgreen:.

Oh I agree, the fumes have really screwed Chris up, the proof is not just in this rig;-).

Looks like you got some work ahead of you Devlin, better get crackin'.

Cool rig Dev, I like the lines"thumbsup".
Title changed for ya too8)
Now get to building all them rigs!

Nice rig Devlin! Ecoli is crazy about the Coleworx rigs, and he does a god job on them. I wouldn't wanna build one of them way too many curves.

How strong is the brass compared to steel?

Yay! Glad this one is seeing the light of day :D!

The brass was interesting to work with. Extremely easy to bend, cut and file compared to steel, but also easy to collapse the tubing. I'm still sweeping up salt from the workroom floor :D! It defiinitely took a gentler touch as well, unlike steel where you can make little tweaks using brute force. As Devlin said though, incredibly light. I'd say about 1/4 or less of the weight of a steel tuber. And while weaker, once it's all braced up, the strength is there. Triangulation is key!

Devlin, are you still looking to get it heat hardened?

the cage work on this is just plain cool. had the same thought as you some time back to build the tube work, but it didn't turn out as good as yours. used a 1/16th revo for running gear had fun with it for alittle bit and used the parts for something different. really like the cage work alot can't wait to see more.

this was mine, but not even close to what you have

Liking much the idea of a very scale yet extremely lite chassis. Must be quite a stunner with all those flawless curves. "thumbsup"
