good question!?
i found these at work (autozone) the other day. they fit my scout perfect. there actually status lights, we have these in clear, red and blue. the ends of the lenses are crosshatched, so they look like real headlights. they're LEDs too! they're designed to snap into a hole in a dash or console or something, so they fit tight in my headlight sockets, but should stay in lexan bodies too. they're cheap enough to play around with anyways. on to the pics

i believe they're just called status lights. part # for the clear is 84919. 84915 and 84917 are blue and red i believe. hope this helps.

Pretty cool discovery. Post up some pics when you get them installed. Do they have a good range??

here's some pics of them installed. the range isnt enormous, but they'll probably shine a couple of feet out in front, which is about scale for original 1976 headlights.

Those look like they'll do a pretty decent job. Got any pics of your scout you can post up??

I understand that just like my Samurai thats sitting in my garage that I haven't driven in over a year....work in progress!!!!

That is ridiculously sweet!!! I might have to look into building a scale rig before to much longer, just wish there was a samurai body out there that would work.

why dont u just make a zuk body? that is how the scouts came about on the rigs on here. make it of plastic, or wood like this scout, or something else. just use some imagination and it should come out ok. like you said its sitting in your garage so you would have it to look at everyday and get the measurements and body lines to scale it down. just give it a shot and let us know how it works out for ya

as of right now the wires are just twisted together. these are polarized, so they will only work one way i.e. the + on the side must be to your hot wire. i plan to wire them to a servo lead, and use the third channel on my radio to turn them on and off. still have all the electronic stuff to do on the scout. the pics i just have it to a 9v batt.
