I wanna be Dave
4X4's are built, not bought. Right? :ror:
After building my Custom 1/8 buggy with 40's I never thought I would go smaller, then the Berg came out and I had to have that, Freakin amazing Crawler. I thought I would stop there at a 2.2 but then I had an itch to build a copy of my trail rig and evidently a 1.9 is the only way to achieve a scale copy, so here I am. FYI this darn little 1.9 is more expensive than my custom 1/8 super buggy with 4WS and a on board MP3 !.
To start off I bought the Toyota Hilux plastic body in hopes of modifying it. I dont have that much patience and time so I went straight for Bigbirds Molded .060 ABS 4runner body
Body:
4Runner ABS body from bigbird.
Chassis:
Bought a SCX10 Chassis and gave it some bends to follow the Toyota chassis and provide a safe low easy access spot for my 3S battery.
Axles:
First I used- Axial full locked set., Converted to ToYota axles.
Drive train:
2 reduction units and a transfer case. Reduction units are bolted in piggy back. Each reduction unit it comprised of 2 pinion gears. I can change 4 total with teeth between 10t-30t to achieve final output ratios between 33:1 down to 58:1.
I wanted a transfer case between the seats so I bought a Disrupter 2.38:1 transfer case. engineered in new zealand. built well and very smooth.
Drive shafts:
Traxxas slash with steel yokes
Wheels:
Custom TLT wheels to achieve the real scale look of 36" tires on a 15" wheel.
using Temp HPI stock car wheels I have are a perfect width and are very much like my Marsh racing D hole bead locks on my 1:1rig
Tires:
Pro-Line Interco Super Swamper SX "thumbsup" I love these tires on my 1:1. I also bought a 2.2 set and they totally ROCK !
Shocks:
Temporary Axial scx10 shocks.
Suspension and Steering Links:
Chromoly 3/16 .035 wall with 4mm screws and revo Rod Ends. Took a long time to TAP these suckers.
Skid plate:
Custom made 22 G steel.
Bumpers / Sliders:
3/16 Chromoly built by Rckjeep
Seats:
4 Recaro Carmate seats, similar to my 4Runner.
Scale parts:
Axial interior set from RPP. window crank, steerig wheel, shifters, Will need to make up a rear view mirror.
Motor:
HH Black revolver Bushless.
ESC:
Mamba Micro.
Battery:
Hyperion 3S 1100 and a Thunder Power 3S 2250.
Steering:
Nothing else but a Hi-Tec HS7954 high torque servo.
Hi-Tec's customer service and product is the highest quality.
I did purchase a Airtronics high torque servo once and I'm disappointed mostly with terrible customer service, at least the guy I spoke to. took a month to get my servo back, after I left a few msgs.
Winch:
Here's an area I am very ashamed of as I would really like a USA made winch and there is a really killer one out with an actual lock and release lever, but rather $$$. instead I went with the appeared to be the popular 3racing winch.
Lights:
Latest technology SMD LED, the smallest brightest LED's out there.
1 interior light
2 Headlights
2 rectangle off road front lights
4 Rock lights
2 Tail lights to come on when not moving. maybe a reverse light
few parts
