I've been working on and off on this one for weeks, just trying to squeeze in time between other stuff (Fallout 3 and my girlfriend), but it's finally nearly done.

Still some things to clean up (going to take a Dremel to the skid plate again and remake the link plates so the bend is sharper) but I'm calling this the 0.9 version :) I'd also like to make the body mounts fixed with a turnbuckle or something but that's not a big concern, the body should hold them in place (they swivel front to back a bit)

If the pics are too big I'll size them down a bit, these are from my Picasa online album

Basically the Falcon uses the WK transmission (with the 'fix' posted in this forum) with modified 'clocked' motor plate, HPI HD driveshafts with HD gears, HPI diff locks, WK axles, HPI conversion link mounts,, HPI gearbox conversion, HPI Firestorm assembled shocks, and HPI Savage body mounts from the conversion.

Hand-made parts include Delrin (acetal) skid plate, 2mm thick alum. chassis plates, motor mount, servo/battery mount (from one of the templates provided in this forum), all the links and the link plates. Steering links and chassis braces are made using the threaded rod through alum. tubing but I prefer the drill & tap method, it's much cleaner and you end up with thinner links. I used the solid alum. rod links for the suspension links.

I had to buy a bunch of tools for this project :) taps, drill bits, jigsaw blades, pipe bender, tube cutter, materials and more, plus stuff to work on a scale lighting project that I hope I can get to. Future version will have a bent steering rod for more throw and bent bottom links.

Let me know what you think, I have other pics but can't post them all here yet.

I was wondering about the driveshafts but thought maybe the HD drivetrain parts would be able to handle it. I could shorten the shocks, but what else would solve the angle? Any suggestions are welcome! :)

Body will be a HPI Bronco or Defender just for scale fun, I could easily put some holes in the vertical plates for normal crawler mount, but I don't like the idea of the posts catching on anything.

Thanks :D It's my second attempt at making a chassis, I restarted halfway through the first attempt because it was looking too much like someother designs, but I wanted to keep it fairly standard as well and not try anything crazy. I have yet to run it to see if there's binding in the drivetrain or anywhere, and there are a few spacers that need to be inserted to keep the shock tops away from the chassis.

The wideners are the HPI ones for the Wheely King & E-Savage. Not sure I'll actually need them, I know the WK axles are already wider than others.

Thanks guys :) the motor is a 55T Axiom but it's not needed with the gear conversion set, I'm waiting on a brushless setup but wanted to put something in there

You can drop you shock on bottom to hole above the links to help with the drive line angle. Should lower ride height a little also.I run both mine on same hole like the axials. I know your is a different mount but it helped my ride height and got me 4 more degrees of incline before it lifts a tire.

im curious to see how slow that thing is with the gr unit and a 55t  i have the novak 55t and i want more torque but i kno that with the gr unit it will be wayyyy to slow..

rottenbelly - that looks like an idea I might try, I've got plenty of long screws. I was thinking of making longer bottom links but the thought of cutting, drilling and tapping another 8 holes is just too much right now!

I just ordered 100 M3 locknuts off ebay to replace all the regular nuts on the truck - I only need about 20 or so right now, but you can never have too much M3 hardware! :D

It will also extend the wheelbase a little also. In case your trying to keep it comp legal. So i would try moving those before you make longer links."thumbsup"
I would move the links to the outside and the shocks on the inside on the rear. It will help triagulate the links a little to help with any torque twist.

That's cool, I will try that on the next version, I'll have to cut a new skid plate - I have a sheet of black Delrin waiting for the jigsaw! :)
