krush groove
Newbie
I've been working on and off on this one for weeks, just trying to squeeze in time between other stuff (Fallout 3 and my girlfriend), but it's finally nearly done.
Still some things to clean up (going to take a Dremel to the skid plate again and remake the link plates so the bend is sharper) but I'm calling this the 0.9 version
I'd also like to make the body mounts fixed with a turnbuckle or something but that's not a big concern, the body should hold them in place (they swivel front to back a bit)
If the pics are too big I'll size them down a bit, these are from my Picasa online album
Basically the Falcon uses the WK transmission (with the 'fix' posted in this forum) with modified 'clocked' motor plate, HPI HD driveshafts with HD gears, HPI diff locks, WK axles, HPI conversion link mounts,, HPI gearbox conversion, HPI Firestorm assembled shocks, and HPI Savage body mounts from the conversion.
Hand-made parts include Delrin (acetal) skid plate, 2mm thick alum. chassis plates, motor mount, servo/battery mount (from one of the templates provided in this forum), all the links and the link plates. Steering links and chassis braces are made using the threaded rod through alum. tubing but I prefer the drill & tap method, it's much cleaner and you end up with thinner links. I used the solid alum. rod links for the suspension links.
I had to buy a bunch of tools for this project
taps, drill bits, jigsaw blades, pipe bender, tube cutter, materials and more, plus stuff to work on a scale lighting project that I hope I can get to. Future version will have a bent steering rod for more throw and bent bottom links.
Let me know what you think, I have other pics but can't post them all here yet.
