I was shopping for a some deans plugs on ebay to change all mine out and theres alot of imitation ones. Does anyone know anyway to tell that there authentic? if not do you think the others will still work with real deans?. They are the same exact design probably just less durable.

Not only less duable, but probably not as little of resistance as the deans. If you're planning on getting them from ebay, you might as well just order them from tower or get them from your LHS. There will be what, a dollar difference? This way you know they're the real thing and not some cheapy ripoff.

I tired the imitations once and found them extremely hard to solder without warping them baddly. I can solder regular ultras all day long without warping one but not the imitations.

I use the imatations and have not had any problems with my power or soldering them. They work perfect every time and they seem to fit better than the real deans connectors. The few real ones I bought from the LHS are still a pain to put together/pull apart.

There is little difference between the two. As for resistance, I just measured them to be the same. My instrument might not be accurate, but it is consistent. The Deans seem to be a bit smoother plugging together, but after soldering them all bets are off. I solder deans as fast as the knockoffs.

same same IMO.

I bought a batch of a dozen male/female knock offs.

Only had an issue w/ one of them not wanting to work w/ regular Deans.

Great deals to be had.

well thanks for the replys I think i'll just buy some knockoffs and see what happens, no big loss if they suck $12.00 for 10 pr so.

I got the imitations off ebay and had problems with most of them. They were extremely hard to plug and unplug, even before soldering them. I buy the real ones now from Rcboyz on ebay. They're the cheapest I've found.

Heavy uses them he calls them "FEANS" (fake deans) all the time and hasnt had any problems what so ever I swiped a couple from him and they fit my real deans fine. For the money they kick butt but I just buy the real ones at my lhs cause I HATE ordering anything.
