Hey Chris by chance do you have a drill press? Its an easy way to shave the housing down "thumbsup" You can use it like a mill on little plastic rc stuff.

Yes I have access to a drill press. But what bit would I use to mill down the housing?

Any small end mill you can get ahold of will work. A 3/16 or 1/4 2 flute or 4 flute would be fine. Not sure what you have to hold the housing, but if you can get it clamped in something flat (I used a machining vice) so that once you brought the end mill down on top of the housing you could measure from there how much you need to take off. Just lower the end mill to desired depth and then slide the housing back and forth. By no means is it the right way to do it, but it's a makeshift mill for plastic rc stuff. "thumbsup"

Well I went with my second idea cause it was a much cleaner more factory look.

I gained around 5mm of ground clearance started with 42mm and ended up with just over 47mm. I remover just over 7 mm from the housing and put back just over 2mm.

After the glue has set up full I plan on blending the housing to the cover as best as possible without making the housing thin. I should be able to do this fairly well since the housing is fairly thick in this area
 
I got my front axle finished last night. After receiving my dlux custom V2 knuckles yesterday I finally had all the parts to build my full width AR60. After seeing Erik's build I knew I wanted to use his truss because of the servo placement. I tried this several ways and failed to get it narrow enough with everything I tried, so I pm'ed Erik and he told me the secret was some custom knuckles he was designing. So here you go guy's this is my set dlux custom knuckles!

Assembly of these knuckles is easy with a quick read of his vendors thread it took about 5 min a knuckle.

Being that I'm going with a full width AR60 my knuckles are a little more custom than what you will see in his vendors thread and require a custom hub as well. Here is the hub in the knuckle.

Let me say the knuckle steer 90°to the axle I didn't show that in pictures cause it's just not possible to use that much steering. So steering stops are a must.The bearings in the kingpins are super smooth and silky.

It took me over an hour to shim my diff gears but now they are money. I cant wait to test this axle. Stay tuned chassis will be here today.

Yes I fastened the plastic covers with some CA and they are stout I pulled on them fairly hard and the covers didn't budge. As far as width I'm at 10 in wheel face to wheel face. I'm waiting on some custom steering arms so my assembled wheels can slide all the way to the hub.

I can't believe you're able to get a 10" track width running a full size AR60.

Will those arms work with it spaced out to a more reasonable width like 10-1/2" to 10-3/4"?

No doubt keeping it full width, and the servo behind the axle is going to be a big advantage for a clean steering setup and low COG.

A lot of narrowed AR60's just hit the bottom of the waste basket all around the world.....

I don't think so cause by the time you factor in tire budge I'll be around 10 and 3/4.
 
After a little waiting I am proud to present to RCC the TurboTech Prodigy chassis designed by TURBOFEST the 2012 overall national points champion! This chassis was cut by Sniper and his work is superb! When I opened the box the chassis was fully assembled which I liked because it saved me time. It comes with all the hardware link plates and E tray. With out further delay here it is.

I'm stoked to see one of these finally in a build thread after having to jump a few hurdles during the design/prototype process. I can't wait to see what you guys do with these things. Really looking forward to your build Chris!
