Discharging batteries - does this sound right?

I recently finished building a Wraith and chose 3S LiPo batteries to power it. I have a Racer's Edge 3400 may and a Venom 4000 may. I'm pretty new to RC and these are the first LiPo batteries that I have used. I have a Thunder Power 610C-AC/DC charger. I am trying to use the discharge function for the first time, working with the Venom battery. The battery had been on the discharge cycle for a little over 4 hours, and according to the readout on the charger, was only down to 11.64v. The default on the charger to bring a battery down to "storage voltage" is 3.52v/cell, at a rate of 0.25A

Questions:

I'm looking for 10.56v on the battery, right?

Should it take this long to discharge a battery?

I have the balancing cable plugged in - is this correct? (The directions for the charger are silent about this.)

That discharge rate is really low. The storage preset on my powerlab6 has a discharge rate of 10amps.

LiPo storage = 3.85v per cell

balancing the individual cells during storage charge or discharge is recommended

The ideal recommended storage voltage for a Lipo is 50% which is 3.85v per cell. So, for your 3S packs that would be 11.55v (3.85x3)...10.56 is too low. You always want to balance them as well. If the cells are in good shape they should have no trouble holding that voltage for many months if need be. It's always a good idea to check them once in a while though, if they're gong to sit for a prolonged period of time.

You should be able to up the discharge rate on the 610 to 1 amp. That's still very low but it will do the job effectively. You can also adjust the "Time Out" setting if need be.
