DIY Rear Bumper: low cost, high clearance

Lemme know how it turns out.

Mine is holding up great, even after a rather violent tumble down a steep hill.
 
Update!

I was playing around on an local indoor course yesterday when I let my trigger-happy wife take a turn with the TX.

She managed to launch the jeep backwards, at full 3S speed, into an immovable object; the collision bent the 1/4" brake line to a 20° angle.

I think the fact that the metal gave before the links shows that the links can certainly withstand their share of abuse.

I straightened it out a hammer, and I intend to continue to use this bumper, still on the first set of links.
 
Great idea! I almost trashed my old plastic links while cleaning this past weekend but I'm glad I didn't. I think I'll give this a try today.
