Hi guys,

I tried to make a steering link out of all threaded rod, I made some bents in it to avoid steering bumbs

Below are pics for it

Doesn't it need something around the all thread? Links are typically built with 8/32 rod and 1/4 brake line.

Yeah, but in my region it is difficult to find brake lines cheap, so I just used the all threaded, I don't think it affects performance or functionality, it is for more strength and scale look

The all thread by itself is rather weak and the brake line helps strengthen it but is still kinda weak even with both. I will only use brake line and all thread for 4-links not steering now after it constantly bending as steering links.

Nah. I've ran 8/32" all thread as lower links, upper links, drag links, steering links with no failures to date. If you get some crazy bends then there could be an issue. But the 8/32 will usually snap when trying to bend crazy shapes anyways.

BUMP

I did similar for axle center chunk clearance.

I don't know that this is a cure for bump steer...
as I roll 4 link w AMS so I don't have that issue.

Mine is the steering drag link that is designed
for use on the Gelande2.
Purchased individually thru RC4WD

It's a solid core alloy with threaded ends
It will bend if impacted hard.
But I've been able to reform it several times
and it hasn't broken when doing so.

I generally drive slow...
and so it suffers little impact.
But on rare occasion it gets nailed.

Wished it was made from unobtanium
as it would be less likely to bend.
but it holds up fine to most of my abuses
even tho' it isn't.

I've used some shrink wrap to cover the all thread. A couple of tubes and you can hardly tell. I have yet to bend the all thread..."thumbsup"

What do you use for steering links?

I use stainless or titanium. I have hit rocks wide open with titanium and just made scratches on the rock. It costs more up front but last much longer for me so costs less in the long run. The stainless I have had to break but it was a good hit for it to break but I have never bent one.

I would run delrin for steering before I would allthread cause it usually bounces back but you can't bend it and it be good still.

This is just me from my experiences with it and I could be rougher on mine than some are but I am not near as rough as some people I know.
