Dlux Sportsman build

I hear ya, same stuff I go through on the G10 wheels I provide. Everybody wants colors until they see what it actually costs just to get custom colors in.

Are you going to keep running your mouth about the watermelon or are you going to man up?

Is it possible to mount the trans like I do? If so, the skid is a given.

I'm sure it's poosible. I mainly want to be able to get my motor down lower. The Cobalt mags sitting a 1/4" higher than they need to be can't be helping me any.

I am intrigued to know why the different side braces? I assume they will have a purpose, but at this time I can not think what for...

I've been building my SP now for a month or so, and I'm almost there, going to play with some magic alloy this weekend and make some new links.

Reasons that I like the new side braces:

They put the upper links in double sheer making the screws stronger and if your screw comes loose on the uppers, it will still be held in place by the side plate and not wallow out.
I like the bar on the bottom of the plate. It makes sliding on rocks easier. You stay off your upper links, motor and inner chassis plates.
These side plates have a cross bar in the middle. Without a cross bar in the middle its easy to get chassis flex right in the middle of the chassis, where most of the forces are.

Hopefully you can excuse the small delay... I have been over the top busy with work but I also needed one tool that I didnt have here at the shop..... a shoe horn!

Dang, did you have to remove one of the motor brush plate, to get the motor to fit? Looks like you ground down the chassis too a little. Shoehorn, no shit.

Any running vids yet?

What guy doesn't like it tight?:ror

I still need to look into hanging the NCD Trans like that but it might just work.

I like those driveshafts Erik!

Thanks! They have been holding up great! Looks like I am going to have to lengthen the rear which kinda sucks. I really like easy to modify easy to buy parts. Too much pride in them at this point though.

Yeah. Removed a brush plate, ground the G10 and still had to grind on the end bell to get it to fit. On the front, I had to grind the G10 where the pinion goes too. Looks like I am good to go from here though.

If you hang it, wont it basically be in the same spot? Only benefit at that point is running an MOA type skid, which I think is huge.

I think other trans builders sacrificed the motor height for driveline angles where as I went the other way. I think the rear on this is going to give me some issues with the raked skid and how high my outputs are. My motor is in an ideal spot but I forsee a lot of work on my drivelines/geometry.

I did get a couple when I first built it. I was going to save them and do a bigger vid but I am thinking that the SP deserves its own vid.

Here are a couple of lines that were in our 2.2p courses. The second line stumped more than one guy on his MOA.

I was able to get this thing all buttoned up and hit the rocks last weekend. I am very impressed! It responded to tuning/changes really, really well. I was making some lines that I didnt think were possible.

I had a hard time setting up the rear because of my trans output being so high and I also wanted to get this car as low as I could to the ground. Everything turned out awesome though. The sway bar was way too stiff since it was so narrow. I now have it a bit wider and also I had some longer arms that I threw on. I think I will be able to go back to the standard arms now though that I have the longer bar. I am also not sure how I like the sideways cap mod. It sure does bring the ride height down but I need to either refine it or I will probably throw my standard BB shock balls in a stock cap. Not too much tuning needed though! I am pretty stoked about this car.

Some naked shots....

Awesome! Thing looks super sleek, I dig the height. Hows it on flip over recoveries/break overs so far?

I am super surprised at break overs. I thought getting it this low it would be dragging on everything. At this location, break overs are every where, I didnt struggle on my belly once. I am guessing the raked skid is helping? I feel like I could go lower.... if I can figure it out.

Flip overs depend on where I set my lid, which I dont have dialed in yet. I lowered it quite a bit and it went from struggling to no problem really quick.
