The colors are starting to grow on me a bit. I am thinking its the colors and the panels that are not sitting right. I am going to modify the side panels a bit to see if I like them better.

You would really like that line in the super. Its much harder and more fun.

Wow I'm kind of surprised those lasted that long, but it is cooler now. I have to watch my micro pros in 2.2 during the summer as they heat up fairly quickly.

I kept a really good eye on them and they got warm but never hot. I was actually really happy with them. I think I found the root cause too. When it smoked, I could feel a bind somewhere. Since the car and scale is so new to me I didnt know if it was a dead battery (front dies before the rear) or if something was binding. I thought it was the dead battery at first, then thought I was over steering my CVD's so I backed my EPA's off and thats when it smoked. That was a couple mins worth of pushing through binds. I took a better look last night and found that my king pin bushings were too tight on my knuckle and it was tightening the screw when I would turn and then back it off when I would turn the other way so I could not find the bind. I looked at my CVD and you can see where the king pin screw was rubbing and stopping the CVD.

I have the car back up and running but I am not going to drive it until I get the knuckle/king pin issue resolved and also the rear links need to be done, its too frustrating having those rear links be so flexible.

I cant really tell to be honest, its that bad. Just jumping all around and probably trying to drive under itself.

Edit:

If I do ditch these sidewinders I will have a horrible time moving to something heavy. I think my next step would be FXR's but I have a bad feeling about those too.

I had a great time at Lil Moab! Its like I have never driven there before with the super. The weather have been awesome too. Let me know when youre ready.

Good to know, they could be my next ESC. I just ordered up some 45t motors so hopefully I can keep these sidewinders.

Built some 1/4 TI links. I hand bend all my links. 3/16 is pretty easy. I had to break out the "strength of the bear" to get these suckers bent up though. LOL. 1/4 is substantial compared to 3/16. I have not driven it yet but, doing the hands on test it seems like these will work great.

I was also curios of the weight penalty. Looks like it put on a decent amount Its hard for me to believe that people run 1/4" TI on their 2.2's :shock:

Single 1/4 link 32g

Single 3/16 link 20g

The esc's will actually run cooler on 4S due to the decrease in amps. You just have to roll the firmware back a few versions from current due to a high voltage setting implemented in the last 2 or 3 releases. I don't remember the number though.

I don't know, electricity scares me. I do know that my berg runs cooler changing nothing other than going from 3S to 4S.

I ended up doing the Bully bearing knuckle mod. This replaces the brass bushings with a flanged bearing. This worked out awesome! Props to the guy who figured this out.

I also put some red locktite between the bearing and knuckle and between the bearing and the axle shaft. I dont know the long term of this but for now, my entire front axle is finally slop free!!! Man, I am stoked.

If it helps, here is a picture of the bearing mod. Oh, the only thing that is not spelled out in this mod is the screw length. I ended up using a 3mm x 8mm tapered screw and it was the perfect length. It might be different for the Bully chubs?

Pretty hard to see but, it actually helps me out with clearances a bit too.
