Do you believe in God,Heaven or Hell?

God, yes. The bible, no.

There is no denying that the founders of this nation clearly had Christian roots. However, they did not create a Christian nation, and pushed back against those among them that did want a theocracy.

They created a secular nation for a reason. They wanted government to stay out of religious matters, and visa versa, for a reason. They wanted the free exercise of religion for a reason. Some went on to expand on the idea of why they chose a separation of church and state for a reason.

We are a Christian nation by popularity only. Officially we are also a Muslim, Buddhist, atheist, Jewish, Hindu, and all of the other 300+ religious affiliations practiced here in the US.

This country
Not my country, fortunately. :D
was founded on a Christian basis, just read the constitution.

I am not that familiar with your constitution, but I am fairly sure that it does not state "believe in Christ or else" or "anything goes as long as you believe in Christ" anywhere in it. Feel free to quote the relevant parts of the constitution that clearly denotes your claim if you feel that I am mistaken.

And even as the constitution is actually written, do you feel that it permits those in your government, your school systems, and your judiciary to use their positions to promote their particular religious beliefs?

I also have to say that even if every country in the world had some sort of god or gods written into their constitution, I would still insist on some robust, testable evidence to support their claims for the existence of said gods.

Do you care if your beliefs are an accurate reflection of reality?

Many religious, but only One true God and only one Saviour ( Jesus Christ ) [emoji4][emoji177]

Is that one or two gods?

This country has a freedom of religion. It was founded by believers with God in mind, not to mention the “lyrics” of the pledge of allegiance, etc.

the under God part wasn't added until the 1950s. Suggested by President Eisenhower. The original never mentioned it and people didn't agree with adding it.

That was also the same time "In God We Trust" became our new official motto and placed on all of our currency. All part of the Cold War and Red Scare propaganda.

Not only that, but the author was himself a Baptist minister that strongly supported a separation of church and state.

I'll take that as a 'no'.

Ok. Apparently your beliefs aren’t supported well too. Not to mention that there is a “missing link” due to the fact that there have been no evolutionary fossils. How is it possible for an evolving organism to not die in the process.

There is a long line of supporting evidence for a missing link, but it hasn't yet been discovered.

The idea of a missing link only helps the anti-science crowd make their god-of-the-gaps argument.

There are many lines of evidence for evolution through natural selection and it’s a process measured in lengths of time we cannot fathom.

You seriously need to take an elementary level course in evolution because you clearly don’t understand it.

You cannot engage in this debate with any credibility with this obvious lack of education.

Or you are being deliberately obtuse and that’s even worse.

playing off this and adding a slightly different perspective, although, I have to admit, I am a non believer in diety, but some purists would argue that your very argument can be used as leverage for the pro god crowd. You see, apparently way back in the days predating King James and the Council of Nicea (sp?), the original Hebrew word that was translated to say god created the earth in 7 "days", was not actually days, but in reality a much more vague word that more accurately translates into "time period"... so, could the animals of the earth been placed by an almighty power and evolved during these "days" or "time periods"... maybe...

Or maybe humanity as we know it was born from the primordial guck against odds a billion times more steep than the current 550m dollar powerball...

Guess we'll all find out if and when we're standing in front of some pearly gates :lmao:

I learned about this in elementary. I believe that it is complete bs. I see no credible evidence in the form of a fossil or any other indication. Check your facts.

I do believe that the earth is fairly old, and that even though the Bible is said to be complete truth, the actual meanings of some things in different translations can differ over thousands of years. In other words do I believe in God? Yes. Do I believe in evolution? Not through the physical changing of an organism, but through the way it thinks and acts. For example, thanks a bird if it’s wing is amputated due to a disease, will it’s offspring have a missing wing? I think not. To further reinforce my beliefs, through the thousands of years humans have existed, there is no written evidence of evolution.

Your ideology is blocking your ability to evaluate evidence.

Hmm, I'm atheist and believe in science and facts. I don't believe in heaven or hell, and that death is the end, nothing happens, and you will be forgotten. However, I treat others how I want to be treated, so I'm not an asshole and empathetic to the struggle through life. At the end of the day, I don't need to believe in a deity for hope - I'm extremely successful through the choices I've made in life and endured struggles and pain like everyone else. Either way, I choose to take everything in a glass-half-full and always look on the bright-side of things, because even when things aren't going well and I die tomorrow, I can say I've had a good life.
