Does anyone else here hate Christmas?

Maybe for some it is, but I know a number of people who could care less about the gifts, the religious aspect is what tickles their fancy...my Mom being one of them. She buys gifts for my son and buys one bicycle per year, which she donates to the local children's shelter. She knows that adults can buy what they want, giving to children is what puts a smile on her face.

Like everything else, its what type of faith people put into it. And like every other significant religious tradition based on seasons, its about agriculture and food. To keep the commune from starving basically. "Christians" took it from "pagans" and made it their own, among other things.

Still nice to see when others give during the winter solstice celebrations, builds my faith in the good of the human race. My mom donates toothpaste and toothbrushes to her local shelter.

The Salvation Army is probably the best of the mainstream charities out there. The article I saw the other year stated the president (or whatever they call themself) of the Salvation Army draws around $17,000 per year of salary and lives in a SA owned house. The salaries the heads of some of the other "charities" draw is pretty staggering.
