ECX Barrage upgrades

That looks like them. Don’t even try anything besides a Dremel or some sort of rotary cutting tool. It’s too small and the tolerances too tight to mess around with.

thanks for the tip.

How difficult is it to cut with a Dremel?

I'm used to cutting bolts, screws, and Allen wrenches down to size, is that experience similar?

Do I just use the measurements off the stock shafts?

Sorry for all the questions, I only ordered one pair.

Does anyone know the teeth count of the axles gears? I blew the rear on one of mine. I am gonna scab in a scx10 axles setup maybe. I am likely gonna end up ordering a complete set of the one the Chinese alloy ones. Have any new people done that swap? I would just use what I have but the front axle housing doesn’t have a way for the servo to mount. Not sure it would work any other way on this rig.

This is the 1/24 Barrage, SCX10 parts wouldn't fit

Hey guys, just a quick review of the steel WPL driveshafts:

1. they took a while to cut, because of the material
2. one U-joint pin fell out from the vibrations of the Dremel (pushed back in with pliers)
3. another U-joint pin worked itself halfway out after an hour run in the backyard.
4. fits great
5. overall not too happy; I don't think it will last two packs on the trail until a pin falls out on its own.

Any thoughts or fixes for those U-joint pins? Can they be replaced with anything else?

Weird. I haven't had any issues with the pins on mine. Being that they are steel. You may be able to heat them and wick some solder in there.

The pins popping out is a common problem with those drive shafts, the only fix I've seen is a replacement pin or screw.

As far as the ESC, it's a little late but the RGT ESC/RX alone is $15 on AsiaTees

Hmm roll pins... great idea! Ive had problems wicking solder into things so i might try this.
I was thinking of using a 1/10 traxxas body clip cut real short.

Simple solution is to find the right size heat shrink tubing and put a small piece around the collar to hold the pin in place. Material is pretty durable and can easily be replaced and removed when needed.

I revived my rgt with a RC4WD r5 transmission.

Now I actually like the RGT. Much much better torque.

I did the same thing and it’s WAY better. Tons of torque.
